hahaha thats sooo lame i think youll find its coz its peanut-butter the butter will be greasy much like butter im sure i can tell you a few things that will have the same effect like a mcdonalds chip or a cloth with cooking oil on it after a few days however and after it rains it will all go streaky!! wait and see not recommended!!

is toasted bread better or just buttered?

Its a daft idea anyway, you're just going to ruin a towel doing it and it'll probably work out cheaper to just buy a can of back to black.

i'd imagine buttered would be better cos of the magic oils. :P

Funnily enough, this got some support on a well known detailing forum a while back - on this occasion, it was said that peanut butter is the perfect product for removing polish residues from trims. As above, it's crap advice, and you're right, I wouldn't ever do this on a customers car. In most cases, a proper degreasing with P21S Total Auto Wash, followed by treatment with 303 Aerospace Protectant will restore tired trims to perfect consition. A cheaper option is Poorboy's Trim Restorer. For the very worst trims, you can heat treat them to force more oils to rise to the surface, therefore darkening the finish. However, I avoid this, as I beleive the rims will suffer even more when these oils are lost. :)

You can clean the peanut butter off with slices of bread, and then scoff it as you admire your hard work!

Good point - maybe it was on "Buy One Get One Free" at the supermarket.

Next month, it'll be "Clean your interior with Tomato Ketchup".
