Up to 40 tons vs up tp 4 tons.... Easy conclusion as to what was gonna happen. Even at low speeds its a given that the lorry is gonna win any argument vs a normal car or a 4x4.

Lorry at 60mph vs suv at 60+ in the opposite direction = probably a 120mph impact. Plus the mass of the suv (or what was left of it) had to decelerate from start speed, stop, and then accelerate to the lorries speed in the other direction, all in the space of about 3 or 4 feet and less than a second. The energy impulse required to do that is absolutely massive! Normally, crumple zones are built to slow down the vehicles own mass to a standstill, in as long a distance as possible, not accelerate it the other way again.

if 2 cars have a head on at 60mph each then the impacts actually only 60mph. The lorry would have been limited to 56 but its the weight that does the damage. if you hit 1 doing that speed then you dont stand a chance lol.
