Hey, A lass i know has a saxo westcoast, Which i do most of her work on for her. Last week her clutch went so i changed it for her and all was fine. Yesturday her battery light was coming on at random times. But looked very faded. I got a call from her last night saying it wouldent start so i went and give her a jump start all seemed fine. Told her 2 take it on abit of a cruise for a good hour so the battery would charge. She did this then went home and then went to go out in it this morning and it wouldent start, so i went round and fitted a new alternator for her and managed to get it started after charging the battery up. I drove about for abit and then once again it cut out and will not restart. Any idea's ?

battery sounds royally buggered, either that or you disturbed the earths when removing gearbox and they arent seated right and erm get knocked off when driving. Frankly unlikely sounds more like dead battery and taking it out just moved it around enough to kill it by coincidence

wouldnt of fitted a new alternater first like, would of tested the battery to see what the cranking power was, but i would look at the main earth lead onto the cars chassie and test the battery.

Chack the connections between your alternater and starter, the light comes on when no charge is passing through the system I had a break in my wire that wasn't there all the time. I had to run a new wire through

hi, i got the same problem.... can it be that the wire from the alternator gets destroyed from the heat down there??
