theyre different things to me.
to me, a cruise is like a regular thing with lots of people you dont know in a car park on a sunday night for example,
whereas a meet's a more of a random gathering of people you 'know'
cruise does sound ghey though

Annual General Meeting normally, doesn't really relate to a car gathering though!

I say a cruise is when you drive in group
Mezza2k11
25th May 2012, 19:39
I agree they a different. I've always thought a cruise is a drive with everyone from point to point, whereas a meet you just all meet up at one place and park up.

I just say I'm going to play out in the car if the wife asks, she understands :).
Meet I suppose, going to a cruise conjures up images of this:

I like meat. Not keen on cruises.
I think it depends on the type of car. Car meet/shows are generally ok. Theres a local one to me at a countryside cricket ground, really nice setting and get alsorts of cars there from Lambo's Atoms, Radicals, American Muscle, Jap Imports, classics, Montego's etc and thats once a month, good range of diff people from young to zimmer frames.
If its a french car meet i think its gay.
If its honda it just seems more acceptable as its more of a scene.
A cruise, oh sorry cruize lol dickheads.

How many of you have been to a property organised "cruise"?
I've been to Steel City (Sheffield) and Coventry Cruise several times. The atmosphere is spot on and a "meet" just can't match it. Yes it attracts some idiots but so does football or anything else done in groups.

i do love a good cruise
west london collectives gets allsorts there, even fast car mag attend these days. Hundreds of cars usually turn up.
It is annoying when some hero decides to drive like a mong and attract the old bill though

Without the cockney take on things, this is exactly my sentiments, meeting up with a load of different clubs can be good but when a twat in 1.1 fiesta puts the rear wheels of his car on bread crates and decides he can drift, it puts a downer on things.

yes, it shows its more of an organised thing and not a couple of uncouth yobs standing in a wet carpark. Or are you just too mature for fastcar?

I just don't understand why you would want to drive around in your own car with other car enthusiasts also driving around in their own cars, and meeting at a various location and chatting about whatever.
surely it would make more sense to meet up with friends and go for a drink in the boozer, or even get the car enthusiasts for a good old drink up in the pub with a bit of food.
the kind of people that attend these things are in my head the kind of people that have such little social life they have to conjure up weird new ways of meeting people and leaving the house

No, I'm not really into any car magazines these days, coincidently that extends to a dislike for modified chav wagons - aka; the type of cars in fast car.

Plus one. pulling up into a car park to discuss engine size / how low your car is deffo isn't my type of thing. whats even more ironic is that most 'meets' consist of people pulling up in their car and then continue to sit in the car not socialising thus taking away the definition of the word meet.
Surely meeting up for a track day or something similar would be more fun? even a rolling road day, whilst not my thing, is surely more enjoyable than just being parked up?

went to a couple of shows a few years back, but that was just to have a catch up with a few mates and go out the night before. we never really discussed cars, or enjoyed the show that much. only been to a couple of meets / cruises / whatever you call them and they've been boring and shit for the reasons in my above post.
I've met quite a few mates through forums, we meet up for days out / nights out, holidays, track days etc though - although it's rarely for anything car related.
standing around talking about cars just isn't really my thing these days...
I occassionally go to "meets" although often after a little while chatting everyone does go and "cruise" to another location, or maybe just go for a blast through some tunnels and get some videos. Just a drunk-free alternative to spending a weekend evening and having a good chin-wag about cars with other like minded enthusiasts.
Peeps with expensive cars btw, not your cheapo hatchback scene.

I'm oollllldddd gregggg (mighty boosh joke in case you don't watch it :P) lol
22. to be fair though, cars aren't really my thing these days anyway, not the modification scene anyway. I've still got love for it, but more than happy to drive around in my fairly standard motor and waste money on other things i enjoy at the mo :D
And most people round where i live / hung around with from bedford weren't that into cars when we turned 17. I used to enjoy driving most then, but even then we'd just use cars as transport to get to our local park and kick a ball about. I guess having not too many people interested in it meant that my interest in it fizzled out too.

If you live in the right area where the scene is big you stay with it longer
Seems like most of the clubs in south wales are rivals these days always slating each other, im trying to stay away from it all as my mate had his car beat to bits just for having a different club sticker

I agree Ashley, im not really into modifications anymore, but just maintaining it, and if parts need replacing then using something better than standard in some instances.
I appreciate a well modified car though, just not that bothered about doing it myself anymore.
