View Full Version : Mods you've done and then removed

Was thinking earlier today about all the mods I've done in the 7 years I've had my car.

I've done lots to it, but only got 2 mods on it now, cos all the rest were rubbish and annoying. The 2 I have are a sub in the boot and a quickshift, both of which I couldn't do without now.

The ones I've done and then removed are as follows:

Window tints
Micro aerial ( was shit and didn't work properly)
Smoked fog lights
6 x 9s on the parcel shelf
Painted interior plastics - looked tacky after a while so replaced them all
Metal dust caps - they rust on so are useless!
Blue-tinted headlight bulbs - you can't see shit, they're useless!
Blue-tinted foglight bulbs - also useless!

Think that's it. All that modding and only have the sub and quickshift left on!

What have you done to your car and then changed back to standard?

my quickshift lasted about 2 weeks, massive waste of money for me! also removed my sub too, seeing as i never really had the music up loud anymore. everything else has stayed though

My sub went after a month of owning it
and when I can find a complete standard air in take, I will be saying good bye to my green cotton one

show cage - got rid becuase passengers couldnt bare it lol

supersprint straight through pipe - got rid becuase it was unbearably loud with my huge backbox

scorpion imola 3 inch backbox - sounded too quiet, nearly like standard noise. plus everyone has one so went for a 4 inch peco ;)

citroen sport aluminium fuel cap - replaced the original because the original had a crack, i soon thought it looked utter turd so picked up another silver cap

6x9's on a stealth shelf - replaced with rear doorcard speakers and a standard black shelf because i thought they looked tacky

white dials - could hardly see the numbers at night as the light could barely travel through them

countless custom made stickers which i liked at the time and then soon got bored after a month or so

trying to think of more things ive got rid off over the years with this car...

Turbo came off

Really regret it

Glad I don't own a stripped out car anymore, did think it was good, but then you get back in a car with interior and comfort and think.. Hmm maybe it was really shit

I got mine off Ebay for about £15.
Takes about 15 minutes to bolt on under the car.

Makes such a difference, removes about half of the gear lever travel and makes changes so much tighter.

None,

I carefully plan my modifications for quite a while before I do them.

Quad exhaust. Swapped for a Magnex, sold it and then put a Magnex back on it.

Fun times.

Just reminded me, I had a standard system on, bought a Magnex back box, had that on for about 6 months, then got rid and went back to standard!

On this car, shit coilovers and a supersprint straight through pipe, I didn't like the feeling of having something that sounded like it was faster than it was, all that noise and not enough oomph. Embarrassing.

Some classic mods I removed after a while.
Zebra stripes on a sierra.
Cibbie super Oscars on an xr3 (they were awesom but huge)
Cossie whale tail on a capri!
Loads of stuff really over the years too much to list.
