Im buying a 2002 1.2 punto tomorrow cheap cheap cheap - it's just passed its MOT but has no tax
I'm just looking for something to get to work with, basically trying to save on petrol/insurance/tax.. gonna sell my motor and save the money up for a holiday and bits for my flat.
Anyone had a punto?
I've heard mixed opinions :panic:
I don't care if it falls to bits, as long as it does 8miles a day hehe :homme:
Just wanted to hear what your opinions are... I personally think they look shit/plasticy and as if they'll blow away in a strong breeze :y:

Why the fuck would you buy a punto?! They're horrible rot boxes!
The engines are shit, the wiring is shit, the car is shit, fiats are shit, you're shit.

You need it to get to work?? ha probably wont happen
Had a mk2 as my first car (was nearly 4 years ago) and was a W reg, within 6 months the headgasket failed, the gearbox started to go/whine, it was rotten around the rear seatbelt anchor points and was just a generally shite car.
Would not recommend and would certainly stay well clear of them!

Going off one of my closest friend's opinion, he says it's the worst car he's had the displeasure of owning. He said everything about the way it drove was terrible. This to me says a lot as this guy has had some really shit cars.
I saw a bloke I know last weekend driving a punto gt (the 1.4 turbo) and he too said it is the worst car he has owned.
Oh dear.
Why?!
Fuck sake man, just as I was gaining respect for you, you say this? Its a Cunto for a reason.

Be a long thread :p
I tried to do a hand brake turn in a lass mates one years ago.. Pulled the whole assembly out of the floor
Nearly went through a tree in the process... It's actually surprising that you can forgot that your about to crash when something so out of the ordinary happens
I've snapped cables before but when your left holding to whole lever and assembly with wires and pieces of floor still attached you just seem to pause In sheer amazement

All I can say is that I think everyone should have a punto as a first car because they will appreciate every other car they own so much more.

Nearly had one as a first car, the old shape. It was mint! not one bit of rust anywhere and it purred nice. Passed on it for a flat arch saxo.. :S
I prefer the GTs

8 miles to work? Get a bike, no cost for tax, insurance, MOT, and will get you fit!
Plus it's summer now so perfect weather for cycling!

I almost bought one when I was 18, the interior was awful and didn't feel comfortable in it.
I would never buy one these days but has to be cheaper to insure than a VTR.
Tax and Petrol costs won't be a huge amount different but insurance could save you a decent amount per year if you are young!

I've drove my punto since January this year.
Shit car without a doubt!
Problems so far:
Several coolant leaks
Earth problem with my indicator and brake light flashing at the same time
Rear brakes glazed over
Crack in the engine block
Overheating problems
Lambda sensor gone
Brakes constantly squeaking
