This is everywhere at the moment, all over the TV, radio, internet, emails, letters and recently i've been receiving phone calls about the subject.

Anybody here ever claimed compensation for mis-sold PPI?
How much did you get back?
Who did you use to claim?
What were the original loans/credit cards? I took out a £5k loan and owe about £700 on a credit card - would it be worth a claim?

Thanks :y:

All you need to do to claim back mis-sold PPI is contact your bank. They will send you a form to send in and then go from there.

If you genuinely have been mis-sold PPI, then do this, do not bother with the stupid companies advertising on the tele.

don't go with the people who ring you or advertise on tele, even if they are genuine they'll take a cut of what your owed

My mum and dad have just sent a form/template they got off moneysupermarket to get about £2ks worth of PPI back. You don't need to use any of those stupid ppi companies.

All you have to do is send a letter straight to your bank (find the right address etc) and it will get sorted eventually.

Anyone retarded enough to buy this doesnt deserve their money back.

The whole concept was clearly a scam.

If its through a bank, supermarket etc just ring them. Any company who gave it out has to put some money aside to compensate the mugs who took it

Its not that people BOUGHT it, it's the bank not telling them they are paying for it.

So don't be so quick off the mark insulting people yeah?

Well thought out genius...

I was offered it as part of a loan I took out as I was told it would cover me should I be unable to make my payments later down the line. However, being self employed I was never covered, even though I was told specifically I was. I never questioned it again, and never had the need to use it either thankfully.

I'm far from retarded thanks. Rather, I was mis-sold a product not fit for my purposes. And given that I've now claimed back all the money (plus £several thousand in interest) actually I'm feeling rather smug.

TTFN.

I got £1000 back from a loan due to mis-sold PPI but I did this before the banks were forced to pay the money back and it took a lot longer then the claims on TV, had to pay 25% of my settlment in fees so got £750 in the end.

So how much were the original loans for if you don't mind me asking? I don't know if a £5,000 loan is 'big' enough to be worth a claim?

And thanks to everybody else - it seems reclaiming it yourself is a better way to go :y:

i had 3 loans over about 10 years. i got 3 different paybacks that added upto 3.5k.
its your right to make a claim and getting anything out of a bank is better than nothing so if i were you id give it a go, but go to your bank to do it

my loan was for £24,000. I claimed back about £3,000 in PPI payments, plus interest, which worked out at about £5.5k total. Did it myself several years ago before it all kicked off my every ambulance chasing chancer trying it on.

Just waiting for mine back at the moment aswel. Paid them off a few years ago, couldn't even remember the loan account numbers but just phoned lloyds tsb, spent 2 minutes on the phone to loan department getting details of which accounts had ppi, then spent 5 minutes passing the details over to the ppi claims line, much easier doing everything straight through your bank if it was them that you had the loan with :-)

Retarded question- How do you know if you paid the protection or not whether you chose not too?

When i went in for a loan, i got told exactly what it was, its fuck whitts who just apply online, and tick all the boxes without even reading what it is, then they go bitching when it comes to paying it.

Well lucky you but the people 'bitching' about it have a perfectly good reason to. They sold something to them that wasn't needed/had no viability.

Should show on your loan agreement document.
