Is there really a need for it?

Will the engine really gain anything from it? probably not. Just buy better oil, oil cooler, switched fan.

it LOOKS COOL!!!!

Seeing as the car spends the majority of its life in a garage I'm not that bothered about how it looks, a few people have mentioned their temps coming down a good bit with it done

I (I say I, a mate) used a normal hole saw to do mine. Obviously as it goes through, you just keep going through the rest.

If you're hole sawing it, bear in mind it will probably crack/split the lacquer close to the hole so will need a respray.

i like the idea i might consider it at a later point but wouldent it just create drag ? wouldent it effect the airodynamics of the car ?

You can get deep hole saws from b&q cheap enough mate. Also if you run it backwards slowly before you start cutting it will scratch through the paint and won't chip it. And yeah it really does help cooling.
