A further question I would like to add, if you lower it 50mm should you uprate the shocks? and why?

Anything lowered more than 40 it is advised that you change the shocks. This is because the standard shocks are put under more stress over bumps as they are 40mm+ shorter than they are on standard height.
They can bottom out and fail. It's only advised to change them and is completely up to you.

Basically a standard shock is not designed to run that low. It will have minimal movement before bottoming out on the bump stops, giving a poor ride and limiting how long they will last before failing. When a full Apex suspension kit is only £211 I dont know why people only go for springs...

£211 is the reason mate. (not saying that's expensive)
I have 2 customers that have been saving for 3 weeks to pay the £150 I charge for lowering inc springs. I have advised them to go for shocks but in this day and age every bit of money is needed so spending £211 quid on shocks is 2-3 weeks food to live on.

in the grand scheme of things £211 is the cheapest of the cheap you can get away with without buying shit, if you cant afford to modify your car then dont i say, id rather have standard height than just buy springs, im a jsut a bit OCD would annoy the shit out of me knowing the shocks are standard lol and it all has to come back apart again to fit them

The same work is required for fitment so it not really a lot different. £150 extra for a vastly superior handling car that looks good and actually performs just as well. Yes it will take a bit longer to save for but its well worth it.
I've hated every car I have driven with low springs so I save up and buy decent kit and fit it only once.

If it boiled down to a choice between eating or looking at the car sat lowered outside my house then guess which 1 would win?

Simply save up and do a proper job. Thats all. Its not really a debate about whether you can afford to eat. If thats the case you should not be modifying a car at all.
