So i changed the head gasket on my car a few weeks back with no issues. Expect with the rise of the new gasket my tappets were, well, tapping. I adjusted them fine the first time and they were fine for about a week, then they started again. Read around and found out that it could be of been the gasket had settled, needless i done them again. Which then solved it for another week but then i noticed it would tap when it was cold, but not when it was hot, but then a changed them again, but it switch so now it tapped when hot and not cold. I would do them again! but seems i would just waste my time. Its very embarrassing when your car sounds like a diesel as you can imagine but i was just wondering if there is anything else it could be that i don't know about. I've pencilled in my car at garage to have them done by a on tuesday, but would like to solve it before hand if possible to save time and money. :wall:

Any ides?!

I'm using 10/40 which i used when i did an oil change months before i done the gasket and it didn't tap. Exactly tontsy thats why im trying to sort it, but like i've said, done it twice now with no success and yes mate stone cold. 0.2 inlet 0.4 exhaust.

TU engines are tappity, change the oil for some Castrol Edge or something else like it, adjust while cold and be happy :y:

You are torque'ing the locking nuts up properly arnt you?

I understand that, but it really is awful! Honestly no, just a little over finger tight, would it have much effect. Saw not to do them too tight as they can pop off and cause all sorts of problems!
