If you get the iphone, iOS6 is having free satnav built in.. Also, if your not desperate, you could wait untill October untill the iPhone 5 is out..
HTC, from experience, and friends, is absolutely wank..
The S3 is supposed to be a really good phone, but between that and the iPhone, its all down to preference..

Yeah i've heard the s3 is a good un, has a much faster processor than the iphone or something. Do you know if the note is basically a bigger version of the s3?

Ive always been an iPhone sorta guy... The new iOS looks promising too.
However my mum has just upgraded her phone to the Galaxy S3. I have to admit, its a beautiful phone! The depth of the screen graphics is outstanding. Very quick processing speed and has quite a few nifty features! :)

just been on some phone comparison site and from what it's telling me the s3 is better than the note. quicker processor, more memory, loads of other stuff that I don't really understand but it has a bigger number next to it therefore must be better lol.
im feelin the s3 i think!

I went from an Iphone 4 to a S3 and I hate it.
I will persist until the 5 comes out and then sell mine for that,

What do you dislike out of interest? I felt the same way for a while going from the iphone 4 to the GS2, but now I love it, much more then I ever did the IP4.

The built in message app is pants and I have yet to find a better one - My iphone displayed that I had an SMS over the lock screen, this seems incapable of doing so
Some of the apps I have used are buggy, the crash intermittently
I keep hitting the button to the right of the '123 Sym' button which takes me into options about 4 times whilst typing a message
It struggles to work with my in car bluetooth head unit, whereas the Iphone did perfectly - It won't pickup for 60 seconds even though they are paired and it refuses to work via USB. The iphone worked perfectly
Most of the settings are difficult to work out, the iphone was so self explanatory
I could go on...
It is very very fast and the camera is good but other than that, I can't see anything it does better than the iphone.

Sounds like you do not like it at all, how ever a couple of things that may make your time with the phone better...
Use GOSMSPRO for messaging, very good app, I also hate the standard app.
Change to SwiftKey 3 for the keyboard, best android KB by miles.
In regards to the settings, they are different, but I got used to them personally.
Not sure about the other problems as I have no experience with it.

if you want something that just works and you dont want to configure it anyway what so ever then get an iphone.
i have the iphone 4 through work and its so much easier to do stuff than on blackberries and android phones.
But, if you hate apple then get an android phone.

I have a HTC One X, I owned a Desire previously and had not one single problem with the phone that wasn't my fault (I went down the custom roms/rooting route).
My One X is amazing performance-wise and it looks beautiful, but I've had a few problems with it since I bough it, mainly poor WiFi performance, but other people have been having hardware defects. The HTC Sense UI is by far the best mobile UI out there in mine, and many others' opinions.
The iPhone is a complete waste of money. Apple take existing technology, give it a fancy name and then market it as something revolutionary; stay clear.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 has a beast of a processor, easily the best processor out in the market, but I'm not too keen on the design of the phone to be honest. If you like the look of the phone, then great. The UI on it is okay in my opinion, but others might like it.
The note is pointless. It's way too big; it doesn't know if it's a phone or a tablet.
Go into some phone stores and ask to play around with a few of the phones, see which one you like the best. Just head into your network's store and they should be able to help you out. The only reason why I'd suggest an iPhone to anyone is because they just work. Most of the time you don't need to mess around with them, but this comes at the price of being able to customize your phone, as Apple have a lot of restrictions in place.
To be honest, from what you've stated, I'd go with the Galaxy S3. I'm not a fan of Samsung phones myself, but it has a large, HD screen which will be good for watching films, has a replacable battery so you can always add a larger battery or keep a spare (phones of that spec have poor battery lives), has a fairly simple user interface, good performance, good camera, etc.
Don't just base it on what anyone has said here, including me. You need to find the phone that's suitable for you, I'm just giving you some suggestions.
One last note, if you're going to be doing a lot of music and video streaming over the mobile network, check out Three's offers. They do 2k minutes, 5k texts, 5k three-to-three minutes and truly unlimited data (none of this fair usage bs) for £34 a month with the S3 or One X. And this is where the price of the iPhone really shows. If you want the £34 a month plan with the iPhone 4S, you have to pay a £49 upfront cost! £49 extra for a phone that's being dominated by the One X and S3.
Good luck in finding the right phone!

HTC one X wins hands down.
Previously had a HTC Desire and couldnt fault it but then moved to iphone 4S. Dont get me wrong its good... but the HTC One X i replaced it with is just so much better.
Samsungs arent all that bad... the UI just looks a bit dated.
The One X has a better camera, battery life is good and best screen, its not too big to carry round in your pocket but big enough to see clearly, had it about 6 weeks now and yet to find a fault with it

For the iPhone basically
Apple don't do anything better than anyone else but what they do is make it simple.

On paper there are far better phones than the iPhone but the number of comments I've seem from people that moved from an iPhone to a Galaxy and back again astounds me.
I have an iPhone and have used others but nothing compares to the apple interface

I had a S2 with an iphone interface, not hard to do. Then you get all the benefits of the hardware that Samsung have over apple. Don't go by interface, it's easily changed to whatever you prefer.
