Sounds like it would be really good tbh

I can see it now. Vettel leading but being taken out by a massive pothole on Oxford street.

Would be amazing to have it around the streets of london, the demonstration a few years ago was good enough!

Would be awesome, but the roads are appalling, so something would need to be done! all sorts of bumps and dips!

£35 million investment kind of implies that the state of the roads is inevitably going to be improved so as to meet guidelines... come on people this is the first thing these people will have analysed.

Headline says £35bn, methinks he's going to do the entire country with that!

Silverstone just had a massive re-development and is contracted till god knows when, plus Bernie wants to take F1 to the moon if he could.

To get F1 more widespread, and more money in his pocket, it needs to branch out to new countries, hence its expansion in the far east over the last few years. There's two tracks being built in the US just now (austin is actually on the calendar for November 18th  - didnt think it was finished) plus India thats brand new.

Classic tracks are having to be dropped for all these new ones coming in. The european races were said to be dropping from 7 to 4 or something? Cant remember now but I can't see how they will drop the likes of Silverstone for a street race round london

will probably be just as shit a track as monaco is, no spots for overtaking anywhere, ridiculously boring

They've been talking about this for years, personally I don't think it will happen for a long time. Silverstone has a long contract for host the British GP and like Pagey said, Bernie would race on the moon if he could, he's coming down hard on all the European tracks saying that they have to improve because there's cities everywhere waiting to steal their slot. Argentina is the latest one to be added, in 2014 I think.

Street circuits are so boring
Silverstone is such a good track why would they want to replace that for London, unless the circuit goes past gatso cameras be good to see if they flash a f1 car when it's flat out

Daily Fail balls up I think, it says £35m in the actual content

Ecclestone is mad. Honestly.

He wants to be able to control the weather for races in the future to make things more interesting!

He wants F1 to be more environmentaly friendly in 2014 by reducing engine size/fuel consumption, yet he's increasing the number of races on the calendar.

A London road race will never happen, bnut if by some miracle the H&S and political bollocks red tape is cut then don't expect to see it any time before the mid to late 2020s, by which time he'll be 6 feet under anyway

Not all are boring, the current new breed of tilke designed tracks are shite.

Montreal is a street track and is fantastic to watch, plus others like surfers paradise etc.. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ahERE0d8w0&feature=related

Bernie is opposed to the new engines being brought in, not for.

He's saying the cost will be too great to the teams.

Also, I can see him trying to increase the season length to accommodate some extra tracks.

It would look amazing but for a f1 track it's a terrible idea. Street circuits should be taken out of f1 altogether imo

Absolute corker of a video, forgot about that so thanks for posting!

A couple of days ago I'd heard about F1 using Stratford following the Olympics (part through statdium, part road and part around Olympic park. Sounds like either standard Eccelestone tosh or a stupid rumour though.

Did mention this in the last F1 Race Thread. If it ever did happen (which I dont think it will) it would basically be another awsome back drop to what would be a dull street race circuit. Wish they would stop trying to stage new races at street circuits, just doesn't make for great racing.
