Whatever it is i'd just like to know why is it that some vts enigines do & don't have it? My current engine has one but the engine i've been looking at buying doesn't have one, and also doesn't have the bracket kinda thing area that it would attach to.

I hope this makes sense, but if anyone could help that would be great, as i'd be buying an engine asap.

Cheers,

Chris

That is just an egr valve, it basicly just lowers the emissions, and can easily be blocked off and removed

It doesn't make any difference really, a lot of people take them off as it gets in the way of working on your engine, and the car should still pass an mot without it.... the only difference with it on is that emissions will be slightly lower

Ok right thanks again for the quick reply!
So is it only mk2's that had them fitted then?

Yep yep 2001 onwards had the fresh air pump. Follow the hoses to the nearside behind the bumper and they lead to the pump. It basicly pumps fresh air into the cylinder head on start-up. All to do with emissions and the cat. Ditch it all and get a blanking plate for the hole left in the head :y:
