I use Avast free edition coupled with Malware Bytes Free edition. Malware bytes doesnt pro-active scan however it detects and removes a hell of a lot of malware with ease.

Im an IT Manager for a small company so its put into action in a real world environment and does work btw

I use Avast after years of using AVG, so much better I find. Along with Spybot for spyware

Granted:detective: But still doesnt take you away from the fact you need an anti-virus. So thanks for your helpful comment :)

Big fan of AVG, its not so system heavy. Just tweak it to suit your needs.

Kaspersky. Shop around and you'll get a decent package cheap enough if you don't go down the free route

Should also mention AVG do a free version.

My work laptop had Norton, WTF it just has constant popups and really slows your system down. Terrible (IMO).

That's the best thing about Kaspersky. Doesn't slow my PC or laptop down.

Kasperspy gets my vote too.

Although I haven't ran an antivirus on my laptop for 2 years now and its on constantly, getting used everyday. As said, don't download shit.

I opened and responded to that Fedex parcel email that I didnt actually order, still yet to receive anything.

I think I may have an STD from it

NOD32 best by miles, ultra low memory usage and it's protection is immense, kills viruses before they even get onto your PC (including spyware from connecting to dodgey sites, will kill your connection to the site before a virus can imbed.) Have used this for about 5 years now and haven't had a single virus since I've used it. Impressive eh? Can get it free as well with a bit of googlin' for login keys ;).
