So after quite a few weeks of constantly looking at sxoc/ driftworks/ ebay, this came up and needed to have it! Got dropped off at mine on friday morning and I have to say it's been a very fun weekend! Haven't had a chance to get my own pics but i will do soon.
I'd only had a little blast in a stage 1 s14a before and this is in a different league. Can't get over the power that it's got (327bhp), obviously such a different car to drive than my old vts. Welded diff takes a bit of getting used to!
Some of the spec is:
Engine
rb25det engine rebuilt turbo and low miles 80,000km
rsp stage one ecu
boost controller set at 0.8bar
air filter
custom 3" exhaust system from downpipe
apexi intercooler
super forma coilpacks
walbro 225 fuel pump
uprated radiator
twin 10" fans
327bhp @the fly
274bhp @the wheels with printout at rdt
welded diff, uprated clutch
Suspension and Brakes
apex coilovers with hard/soft settings and camber adjusters
strut brace
20mm hubcentric spacers
Driftworks suspension arms front and rear to aid camber adjust
345mm db power brakes grooved and drilled
braided lines all round
abs removed
fully undersealed
wheels
10j super advans
front-et35 with 215/45/17 verdsteins
rears-et45 with 235/45/17 michelins
Wasn't sure on the wheels at first but they've grown on me a lot, a bit different to the normal rota's you will see on a lot of these. Also got a lot of potential with the engine to get some more horses out of it.
Anyways, here's some pics

Yeh i've liked the look of s14a, mean from the front end!

Yep thanks for reminding me :P
So far i've just taken of the stickers from the back, might get rid of the bonnet raisers. Forgot to say it also had a fresh paint about 3 years ago so bodywork is pretty mint!

Looks awesome, but i can see the temptation of spinning rears giving you a huuuuge tyre bill!
Monster!!!
Very nice lad. Miss my old S14a, wet roundabouts, off you go ;)

That does look awesome, and Super Advans are an all time classic favourite wheel of mine. Really suits that car also.
But why the welded diff when these come with an LSD as standard. Seems a bit strange seeing as it already has a very good spec with a fair whack of cash thrown at it.

Cheers, the bloke that i got it off showed me how it performed on an empty roundabout, very impressive i must say!

Yeh the wheels have grown on me a lot. Welded diff is just to get the back end out a lot easier!

I love it, love the wheels( favourite wheels on forza :P) and the colour is nice too, the wheels would look good in a different colour though just clashing but I'm OCD with that sort, fair play mate.. Lovely car!
Boy up here has a vertex kitted s14a with an RB25
He's going for at least 600bhp!

With 274bhp @ the rear wheels, i would imagine that even with an open diff, the rear will step out with ease, never mind with a welded diff. lol.
Also, i bet for not much money, you could see very good power from that RB25. Just clicked that its making the afore mentioned power at 0.8bar.
Whats the plans for it?? Would like to keep an eye on this as it looks to have huge potential.
Chris_O

Have to say it does attract a lot of attention! Still getting used to this sort of power atm, but this is only at the early tuning stages of the rb25, got a lot of potential. About another grand should see around 400bhp

Yeh i know what you mean, just a lot of the drifters seem to have welded diffs! If it proves to be a pain when parking and stuff and muches tyres like no tomorrow i will stick standard lsd on.
Yeh , might have a little play with the boost controller at some point ;) But yeh as said above, a different turbo and injectors, + a different map should see around 400bhp. Can't really imagine what that would be like tbh, as going from my vts to this has been pretty mad itself. I'll make a progress thread soon though

That looks awesome!
Welded diff day to day is a bit of a pain, but you get used to it :).
The Welded diff is a popular choice if you're going for arse out action.
I remember on my old S14a with the stock LSD, it was pretty damn grippy in the dry and I had to really kick it some to get the back end out, wet surfaces were lovely though.
All the boys in the drifter scene go for the welded diffs over the OEM stuff, works well for them.

Quality motor. If it was me all id do is, change wheel colour, fit some buckets and then go for more power. Looks a quality buy though mate. How much you pay if you don't mind me asking.
Saw that for sale on driftworks :y:
Love the wheels, hate the back end tho... something about em looks abit :homme:

I'm going to get a proper pic of the back end soon, looks a lot different to others just because its so low and wide. The rear arches have been rolled as well. Tempted to look at smallish spoilers as well as i agree it looks as though the back end is missing something!

Just be careful with the boost on standard turbo, anything 1 bar and over will see the exhaust turbine shatter and be fired out the exhaust:(
My old 14 silvia was that colour with a bomex kit. I love RBs
When I left that scene everyone was getting a boner for LS1 conversions. But I love the way the RBs are so silky and the noise is good. Not what you expect from the 14s
I thing they handle better with the RB lump than with the stock SR motors.
Not a fan of advans myself, most of the imports I used to get from the auctions always had them on, usually different colours front to back lol!
Wouldn't mind another but I'm gonna hold out for a lexus I reckon.

Nice choice lad. Keep the welder or fit a proper 2 way if you plan on using it properly. My car has the stock diff and i blew it on my first drift day at 280ish bhp. There's a reason people fit welders ;)
I plan on doing a rb swap on mine when funds allow, but I know il want loads of flash bits to go with it so it wont be cheap. As said the stock turbo has a ceramic exhaust wheel and they tend to shit themselves at low boost :( a mate is running 540bhp with only a hks head gasket though so engine is plenty strong ;)

Cheers for the heads up on that. May just leave the controller alone until i go up another stage lol.
I have to say it does sound amazing. I thought it was going to be silly loud with a custom stainless 3inch straight through to a massive jap can, but to be fair it's not over the top at all, which is what i wanted. You can hear the engine and turbo working really well

Haha, another bit of good advice! Was that drift day local to you?
Well i was looking at stage 3 sr20's at around the 360bhp mark. Then i just thought the rb is sort of at the start of it's tuning potential around that same figure so it made sense really. Definitely looking forward to extracting some more horses though ;)

Back end looks shite, too rounded and bare, actually needs a big spoiler to give it some shape
Not keen on the green colour at all.. And the wheels are hideous and a gash colour but prob worth a fortune so you could sell them on and get new ones...unless you like them of course..
Apart from that it looks mint and i'm sure its rapid :y:

Apart from all that it's good then lol. I agree with the back, although as i said earlier in the thread, i',ll get some pics of it square on from the back and it doesn't look as bad for some reason. But I do rekon a little spoiler would improve it.
Don't like the green? Are you alright? :p

this is the point I was going to raise about it, but not how you have...
my opinion is the handling is utterly ruined when the rb is put in, it's a cast engine where as the sr is a full alloy engine. The weight difference is incredible making them handle completely different to a normal s body. Not to mention the gearbox is then a lot heavier, it makes the car well over 100kg heavier. If you are using it as a ''drift'' car then I expect the unbalanced weight isn't top of your priorities.
However, the rb engines sounds a lot better than the sr.

Hahaha. I just don't see why it would matter to someone how much disposable income someone has available.
I never like people knowing what I paid for anything of any real value, even more so when it's someone I barely know.
That's all people say about the S15. "How much did that set you back?", "I bet that cost a lot..."

Think its down to personal preference, some say they prefer them with a rb. Obviously a suitable suspension setup to handle the extra weight is on the cards, il have to drive my mates one to see how they really drive
And the sr wont reliably yeild the power i want without having big money thrown at it, even then the lag will be silly and the gearbox will shit itself so il need to fit a rb box anyway. Just makes more sense to start with a rb25/6 imo

Oh yeah, people are definitely nosey by nature, and most are jealous, bitter creatures. On the flip side of it, I hate people who buy something expensive and feel like they need to tell everyone about it and put emphasis on how much it cost them!
Me personally, I don't volunteer it but I have no issue sharing it.
Think I read something in the sun, on Clarkson's page about an interviewer asking Amy MacDonald about how much her Ferrari cost her and why she spent so much on a car because surely it can't be driven fast on our roads etc, and Clarkson ridiculed it saying how stupid it is that people ask these questions, cos it's none of their business, and that nobody would ever ask her about how much her clothes cost etc. Was a good point he made anyway ha. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18391872 that interview, the stupid woman person!

the runt of the family?!
lol, the s body is a much better handling car than the skyline which is helped by the fact they are 200kg lighter.
If you buy a skyline it has to be a GTR with the rb26 otherwise you'll always know your car is inferior and not as good as it could have been if you get a gts/gtst/gtt.
The s13/s14/s15 have always been better than non GTR skylines, the jdm versions always have similar power to the skylines from the factory yet are 200kg lighter..
And the rb25 is no where near as easy to tune as people make out, the sr can make similar power on it's standard turbo as to what the rb25 can make on it's standard turbo. 400bhp+ for either engine begins to get big money.

I do on a regular basis, an r32 gtr...
a budget s14a is £2.2k+
a budget GTST skyline is £1.5k+
and the insurance for me is of no difference. Money isn't a factor, i had an s body, sold it, then when back to another s body..
You only had to be at japfest to see the s bodies lapping combe quicker than more powerful skylines.

Lolz at some of these comments. I got my first s13 in 03, had about 5 or six in different tune (one) powered) and had 4 s14s, 2 gtsts and one gtr. If your going to have a skyline it needs to be a gtr.
S bodies (that's a new term to me lol) are a great all round car, definitely in preference to skyline unless its an R.
I've gone from all of those to a saxo, which I'll say is as much fun as any of the jap stuff I've owned. If it wearnt for the financial crash I'd still probably. Be looking down my nose at little scrabble wagons lol!

I was a trader on sxoc when Bren started apex performance. Nobody ever used to call them s bodies back then. The s13 is actually RPs13. Things went crazy and prices went through the roof when "the fast and the furious" came out.
My first three S13s were all bought for banger money and you could get a decent s14 for just under a grand, good days.

Not once have i back peddled nor have i compared them to a porsche.
And i was referring to that shitter of an e36 you admitted to owning..
To give an example, a stage 1a s body can make 300bhp with matched torque and this isn't close to stressing them. It's a 1200kg car and this can be done to a standard car for less than a grand... I'll let you do the math on what that should be capable of.

Are Porsches's the new benchmark for a fast car nowadays??
Can remember the days it was Scooby's, Evo's and Skylines.
People realised they were cars for people that couldnt drive and needed a turbo to do the work for them :)

E36 323i is known as BMW's "runt" car.
BMW went backwards and gave them less power. Think thats why they were badged as a 323i, so people thought they were only a 2.3l with there pitiful power output for a 2.5l straight 6.
I laugh everytime i see some1 driving 1. You just know they have had to settle for 3rd best because they can't afford the 1s worth having.

I paid 6500 for mine 17000miles one lady owner 59 reg and still had a years warranty!
Admittedly i have the full fat but tbh if you want to go on track the cup wont be stiff enough and on the road the ride in the cup is pretty bloody bad aldo the fact i have sliding seats is a bonus for boot space!
The cup is only 4mm lower and 10% stiffer dampers anyway and you get 1" larger (and probably heavier) alloy wheels

I didn't revise/pay attention for shit in school once I was told I was gifted, I was lazy and pretty much fucked my education up and ended up with shit grades. 7 C's and 2 B's.
Currently I'm on more than minimum wage, I pull in £350 a week on salary at 21, which includes dental and health care which imo isn't too bad, I am due to enroll for a beginners development course in Java in October to better myself, I would already be on £25k a year if I didn't follow my friends and do an electrician course when I left school, which for the record I smashed with straight distinctions (bar final exam due to cutting a cable off on the wrong mark ended up with a credit) but after obtaining an apprenticeship I decided I'm not being treated like a bitch for 2 years for a measely £40k a year eventually. So decided I was nifty with computers and left the job was unemployed on and off for a year, worked with my Dad for a while and eventually (last Feb), got an IT shift work job, I pretty much do fuck all so I have plenty of time to study to better myself, I'll take a paycut once I'm qualified, but it has prospects this job doesn't (even the HR manager told me this when I applied).
Cool story huh?
I'd lose the assumptions about peoples personal lives matey, you don't seem to be psychic, why would you chose such a car lol it's quite evident budget comes into play, which again you can't seem to understand, quite simply, if you could've afforded it, you would have bought an M3 or something better.

I blitzed college whilst smoking blunts at lunch, unfortunately I was with the wrong crowd should've just gone my own way like and just done I.T.
Never said I was a whizz, there you making shit up again with your little assumptions and It'll be a paycut due to the fact Trainee Java developers are £20,000 a year or so, the job I'm on now is more than what I'd earn in the trainee roles but has no prospects. Senior Java Developers i.e when I'm 50 can be on upwards of £70,000 a year some I've seen are as high as £150,000 with some serious experience.
Edit; Re-read your post it seems you didn't read mine, I said after I get my qualifications I will be taking a paycut, not randomly taking one soon, please read you blind monkey.

His 'bait' is rather amusing, once you reply with something slightly on topic/valid he can't reply or back his attack up so moves on to irrelevant topics/'personal insults' problem is he assumes personal information and assumption is the mother of all fuck ups or the road to looking like a cock, he can't read it would appear or rushes in too fast.
