Wassup! For those who dont know, I finally sold the saxo 2 weeks ago! Been in Ibiza for 11 days, got back and needed to get the new car!
So, I bought this today. An Audi A3 1.6 SE. Few little extra's. In MINT condition bar a scratch on the rear right arch which I will sort out soon.

Will get more pictures once I actually get it to my house in bournemouth instead of my dads so I can clean it properly!
Plans:
Lower - either Coilies or Bags.
Thinking BBS wheels, maybe Rota's, anything that still has a classy look to it, maybe Bentleys if I can find a good set!
Next year: full respray in white. Full leather interior retrim. Either blood red or a nice cream colour.
Haven't decided whether to take off the 'A3' and '1.6' badges on the rear, what shall I do!?
Thanks! Del.
Looking good Del :D
Will keep a eye on this!

Looks lovely, have always liked these. Plans sound great, look for a set of Bentleys, and yes to taking off the rear badges. :)

Cheers guys! I originally wanted the B9 shape with the square lights as I have always thought these looked really long, but it's not as bad as I thought! Really love this car it's absolutely amazing to drive, so happy with it! Back to work Monday to save up for wheels and coilies or bags!

Look forward to seeing what you do with this after seeing the quality of your old car.
Although its slower i bet the comfort, the tech and the fact you're driving an audi makes up for it lol!

Best colour for an Audi I think. Don't respray! Once you've cleaned/detailed it properly it will look sweet. What made you go for a 5 door? I think air would be worth the extra money on this! :)

Thankyou man!

Mate tbh speed doesn't phase me, aslong as its quick enough to get from A to B I'm not bothered when it's as good as a drive as this is! Saying that, it's about as fast as my VTR so I'm not complaining at all. It drives so well.
Look forward to seeing what you do with this after seeing the quality of your old car.

Cheers man! Like said above its about the same as my VTR, it's pretty nippy tbf! Not as quick accellaration but after that it's roughly the same so not bad at all!

This has always been my second favourite colour! I do like it, maybe it will persuade me to keep it this colour after a proper detail! At the minute my mind keeps thinking white! Ha. And yeh man looking into air after I get paid, if not then coilies for sure!
I didn't actually realise it was a 5 door till I got home lol, sounds silly I know but it said 3dr on all the sheets I was looking at about it in the showroom, got it home and my dad opened the back door I was like ohhhhh it has more doors! Haha.
Dolphin grey?
Hopefully look forward to seeing some mods.
Not sure on exact name for the colour!
Thanks. Not going to get silly with the mods, just smart upgrades. Wheels and lower slightly first, then think about leather and respray for this time next year!
Nice and average, I'm sure you will do something special with it though
Yeh standard at the moment, havent seen many modded sport backs tbf though, or many in this colour!

Will give you a call soon mate to get a price up! Cheers!

Take the rear wiper off and the "A3" and "1.6", would make it look so clean imo. Nice looking cars.
Delboy
7th July 2012, 14:23
They were the plans, but in the last 2 days that rear wiper has come in handy so much lol...when it's dry outside badges are coming off for sure, just debating on wiper.

Won't get 19's, they look too big IMO. 18's for sure though. Looking for some as we speak!

Need to get the front left slats where the fog part is sorted, will order the part when I get paid.
Also, the rear number plate had some crap stickers over it saying "car centre" so I took them off, then underneath it said "Cardiff Audi" so stripped that off the number plate surround too. Looks cleaner now!
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg168/V3NOM-N18/acd7735a.jpg
Been speaking to a mate today, I'm not going to be doing anything silly with this, its too nice to ruin in a sense, I want to keep it looking smart. Going to leave the badges on FOR NOW, sort out some new wheels, maybe RS4 alloys, then spacers and lower so it sits perfect.
Going to concentrate on getting the paint perfect first!
Thanks! Del.

I know! that's why l'm looking for new ones, It's annoying as these have brand new tyres all round! Rain sports which have decent grip. But as soon as I find some smart alloys, maybe RS4's then they'll be going!

When your lowering itmake sure you know what you want.
I spend 1500 on Kw v3 coils, which are the bollocks, but now wish I didnt rush and saved another grand for air and good management.
Air for these starts around 1500, but its shit management, for decent management your looking 2500 or around 3500 fitted.

yeh ive looked A LOT into air before with a mate and he'll most probably be fitting it with me but ill have a decent set-up, so should be around £2000-£2500. once wheels are sorted, ill keep it how it is until i can get air. Atm its comfortable and practical for what i need at the height it is, it may not look great that high but it does the job!

Update on plans.
Soon:
8000k HID kit
2012 rear LED lights
RS6 alloys
15/20mm spacers
Detail the car properly (pay to get it done)
Shortly after..
Lower on coilies or bags
Leather and alcantara or cloth retrim
Private number plate "D3 RNN" or similar.
Maybe next year:
Full respray - maybe white!
Hopefully all of these happen but time and money will tell! Lol
Cheers! Del

Agreed! I hate the rear with these lights! Spent the last hour or so doing a bit of research on the rear lights. If I buy the genuine Audi 2012 led lights with the wiring loom so it works with my 2006 model it comes to £250 roughly
Tbh ive seen a few sportbacks with the new lights and debadged and they look nuts! So thinking I may do that to mine.
ALTHOUGH had a quick thought earlier to sell this and get a 1.9tdi..they're £20 to tax and do 62 mpg...this is £195 to tax and does 39 mpg :( And being a 1.9tdi a stage 3 remap will get it running sweet! in 2 mind sets ATM so don't know what to do!

1.9tdi's are a sack of arse. No go in them at all. The turbo has the same power as a nats cock.
The LEDs are around 250 for all four, but you need a OEM loom as aftermarkets are not a straight fit, and also coding would be needed.
For my expeirence its around 550 all in for a professional job by a VCDS installer.

yeh thats the kind of prices i've found. shall look further into that when i get paid.
probably going to keep this, get it lowered on wheels and sort out LED's. then leave it till next year which should be full respray and airbags, and all leather interior.
NEXT on the list though is the bloody fogs! getting them sorted when i get paid.
debadged her today too, still undecided whether i like it but im sure it will grow on me.

agree with the 1.9tdi's being shite engines.
i had a 2.0tdi 170 sline (3door FTW) loved that car and loved the MPG
A3 are so easy to drive, but are so refined and can be abit boring at times due to being so "refined"
RS4 wheels(what i had) and some cheap coilovers in my opinion- Air is a waste of money
Oh and the remix rackcity needs to be longer ;)haha

think i shall be sticking with this for sure until my insurance will allow me to have a 2.0l! haha.
i think they are the same alloys, really not sure, they look like this (this may be them lols) = http://i39.tinypic.com/2li808y.jpg
i dont mind the whole speed factor thing really, this car is fast enough for everything i need it for, its actually a lot nippier than i thought it would be! and so far mpg is okey on this, about 40mpg iirc!
only thing with going cheap coilovers is it will be a horrible ride, i want it to still be reasonably smooth. and quite a lot of places i have to go to are on steep hills or i have to drive up kerbs, for example my brothers house doesn't have a drop kerb so i have to drive up one further down then swing 2 wheels on later....Air would be perfect for me as its more practical than coilies in the long run!
and cheers man, a lot of people have said that! better stuff to come soon though ;)

I got caught out with the insurance on my 2.0tdi if im honest.
Debadged looks better, you going for an S Line front bumper or just fogs?
Il be selling my Mercedes SL500 wheels if your looking for a cheap set. They wont fit over the big brakes im planning on getting so will be surplus to requirements.

havent really updated this is a while, nothing has changed with the A3. have been really busy, in and out the country really.
I have a new job that ill be starting within the next few months when i move to essex, and as my plans change all the time at the moment it looks like ill keep this as it is for a little while, once i've saved up a little bit ill be selling this and buying something pretty damn nice, but don't want to reveal too much yet.
The clutch went on this about 3/4 weeks ago, so i didn't drive it for a few days then forked out £430 to get a brand new one fitted. this kind of postponed a few of my plans, which eventually turned into ditching them plans after wanting a newer/nicer car.
gave her a massive clean in and out today anyway so i took some photossssss.

Not really, wouldn't say I'm bored of it at all but I have an oppurtunity to get something seriously nice, so I'm not going to say no lol this is a lovely car and I would love to work on it and keep it, but it may be easier parting ways and getting something bigger and better in the long run. Also, I will be given a work car when I start my new job, so I wont really need a car for a while, which gives me more reason to sell this, keep saving then get what I've always wanted for next year!

Haha! Funnily enough an R8 is actually what I wanted, but NOONE would insure me at any price and the running costs are a joke, my cousin's best friend has one and its terrible on fuel and so expensive overall.
So yeh, I went for a top spec Black Edition S-line 2.0 TDI TT (in white) instead. 62 plate, 0 miles, it's actually still in plastic wrapping and hasn't left the depot! Lol.
Deposit was put down today just got to sort out final payments this week and next then hopefully I drive it away within that week or the week after!
Test drove the same one (demonstrator one) this morning, being a Quattro with 4 wheel drive it handles amazing. And it really does hold some power! Perfect for what I want really!
Will update this thread within the next few weeks with what's happening etc!

Are you financing it or buying it out right, because if you are financing it, modifying it usually invalidates the warranty

No, it is not on finance, so I can do what I want to it, but I doubt I will touch it.
Back windows are tinted on the black editions as standard so will probably tint the fronts a little bit, and MAYBE get the wheels refurbed another colour if I ever get bored. That's about it though :)
I was debating Air for next year, but I really don't want to ruin how the ride and handling as it is, because it's just right! So highly doubt ill do that.
