View Full Version : Possible spam?

I don't want it to be spam, but car/bike theft happens to alot of people and chances are you know someone who's had their P&J nicked. I thought it might help to pop this about:
www.facebook.com/itsbeenstolen

The aim being to get a FB network of 'eyes' all over so people upload a pic of their now absent motor and anyone who see's it locally to anywhere it ends up can comment to the victim and give them a nudge in the right direction..

There's nothing to lose that I can see and there's nothing to gain as the page goes.

Thoughts?

Unless all of my fb friends sign up to this page, how am I going to know if its in the local area?

Good point, Unless you do how can they? ;)

It does rely on people adding then other people adding, I've spent the day so far posting it anywhere I can remember the logon for to get it bumped off, there's genuinely no gain from an admin point of view, no profit etc just want to see some scum deprived of the motors they take and owners get 'em back, been there myself.

Another issue is if I sit adding random people I can't guarantee they're car/bike fans and that they care. the more people add and refer it the faster it grows and becomes productive.

Oh, you mentioned local.. you don't need to be local.

I'm in York, so what if my neighbours car's nicked and parked 30miles away in Leeds overnight? I'd be so busy checking my local tracks/allies that Leeds wouldn't occur to me or Police but if someone in Leeds spotted a strange car and either googled the reg or knew of this page and glanced at it they could let the owner know.. that's the long term theory but without people into their motors getting it out there nobody can ever benefit.
