Well, had my saxo for 2 and a half year, finally decided to get rid, sold it for £1100. Then bought this little beaut, corsa 1.4 16v exclusiv, heated leather seats, irmy sideskirts, splitter and spolier. 1 owner from new, full vauxhall service history, belt, water pump, timing chain ect all done. All receipts for thousands pounds of work, 61k miles, mot and tax, £1950.

Why do people not like these?
Is it just because theyre not a saxo, same reason people with fiestas dont like people with saxo's etc?
For a small car, they do look really nice IMO.
Looks like a tidy example though mate!

Dont think anyone that has commented actually has a saxo. Or even likes saxos for that matter.

I like them, i just think them wheels dont suit them.. Someone had a nice standard 1.4 16v on my road, had leather interior, was nice..

Looked like that, them wheels suit it much better IMO

Timing chain, water pump, tyres, every service, belts ect. I'll get some of the receipts and write down whats been done. I loved my saxo, howeever, this is so much better imo

I like that. I'm looking at Corsas atm. Doubt I can afford insurance on one but no harm in looking lol. Love the ones with Irmscher kit one too.

Found this on Ebay other day, love it all, could even put up with the 206 vents on the bonnet tbh.

Calling them irmy sideskirts doesnt make them cool...

I dont like these as these engines sound rough, made worse by the rattle from the timing chain. Only car ive come across that sounds like it.

Lol, timing CHAIN? Chain or belt? Never come across a car that has a timing chain that needs replacing, especially with those low miles haha. I know my BMW has a chain, it's done 150k and the chain definitely does not need replacing, and will only ever need replacing if the tensioner fucks or doesn't get replaced... So why did it need a new chain? Already makes me think it must be a shit car, without considering you've gone from a small cheap crappy runabout that is a bit of fun, to a more expensive small crappy runabout that wont be as fun... DOWNGRADE.

theres a common fault with the chain tensioner on these that make them loose and rattly. typical vauxhalll

Ohhhh, lovely. Still not sure why someone goes from a small slow hatchback, to a small slow hatchback that costs a bit more... Heated leather seats or not, it's not gonna be comfortable...

Nik_L
10th July 2012, 20:36
Z14XEP is chain driven.

Common fault on them, not sure what its down to, possibly tensioner or plastic guides wearing away.

Timing chains are only supposed to last the lifetime of the car (100k). BMW's N42 (utter crap engines) also suffers timing chain issue's.

Its not uncommon for cars to have timing chain related issue's so its not really something that would put me off buying a car thats had a chain change.

lol M42 crap engine? Mines on 150k, no issues... Definitely no chain issue. M42's don't have a chain issue as such, sometimes the tensioner needs replacing yeah, but you can tell and pick it up early enough to replace it before the chain stretches and needs replacing. Tensioner costs next to nothing and is easy to replace...

Read again Dave....

What have I missed? You said it has chain issues and the chain should last lifetime... yeah you mentioned the tensioner but surely you'd just replace the tensioner and not the chain? That's what I'm getting at... If it's been run and the chain stretched, surely that means it's been running like shit with poor timing? You also said the N42, wat, meant M42 engine was utter crap, which is utter crap in itself...

Nik_L
10th July 2012, 20:53
No, N42 is a different engine to the M42.

Decent enough cars Corsa C's.

Dya think? I honestly find them both just uncomfortable... Too small. Didn't think my saxo was comfy and didn't find my Grandad's or my mates Corsa comfy at all, but I'm used to big comfy cars so yeah

Nik_L
10th July 2012, 21:25
IMO Saxo's score a big 0 in the comfort department. I would even say Corsa B's are more comfier, and then the C is comfier than the B.

Don't get me wrong, both aren't cars great for long journeys without having a sore back at the end of it. But Corsa's didn't annoy me like the Saxo did.

Corsa's are for old people and kids with rich daddies, they're way too feminine for me and could't justify spending that much on such a bland car

Furio-92
10th July 2012, 23:02
My saxo was cammed, loved the car dont get me wrong, but just wanted a change, and always like the saxo's, i understand that it wont get much love on here, however, people like different things, I'll keep you all updated, and hope i can change some of your views throughout the progress, thanks for looking anyway guys and gals

11th July 2012, 13:59
Corsa Bs more comfortable then a Saxo, are you insane? No more comfier, worse. My mate used to have one. Went well for a 1.2 tbf.

As for OPs Corsa, not been in one, cant imagine it will be much different.Edit; even the newest Corsas arnt comfy so.

It looks tidy but im not a big fan of them and its not because i own a Saxo. They dont do anything for me.. and a saxo does? stfu mush.

How many people on here are going by looks?? Thats fine, i would buy a car i dont like the look of either.

How many people on here have driven this shape of corsa, like the shape but want to look cool so say it shit.

I delivered a few when in the car industry, they are a nice drive, nippy enough and built better than a saxo.

I like them, you could do much worse.

Just dont chav it up with a stupid body kit and wanky wheels. ;)

O`h god why o`h why would they fit plastic guides?:wall:To the op if you like thats all that matters.:y:

Not sure why, but alot of other manufacturers use plastic guides.

Tried to keep an open mind with this one, sure I've driven one and it wasn't anything to write home about, however the C is a good improvement over the B which was the worst car I've ever driven by a long shot.

At the end of the day regardless of how it drives its your car, as a progress thread it's nice to see how things pan out, I can always appreciate a tidy and well looked after car (you seem to have found the ideal base in this one)

The OEM+ look I was actually looking forward to seeing, even liked the original alloys, powder coating in a darker shade (anthracite) suits black down to the ground (who cares if the colours done often) and it was sitting nice and not too low from the lowering.

For me I absolutely can't stand the Euro scene. The norm of seeking to go excessively low
With silly wide tyres and stretched rims that don't suit the car is a scene I'm looking forward to see die out.

Still, regardless of that a progress thread where things are done properly with the car being looked after with a keen sense of attention to detail is the best read regardless of model/chosen spec

Best of luck with the project Ant, hopefully you'll continue to update regularly despite some of the criticisms

Tried to keep an open mind with this one,

This is general chat, my mind opens when I see progress in the progress section. Lately people are spamming all sorts of content in general chat that screams "look at me guyze I bought a corsa. Tyre this or exhaust leaking that, what car should I buy in 6 months or what tyres should I choose.

There's a section for tyres, one for pimp my ride progress, one for mechanical problems, one for ICE, one for free stuff or services wanted, one for parts for sale. At the moment, general chat is becoming a big clusterfuck of petty things. The odd (read "rare") interesting thread becoming buried under the flow of attention seekers, windowlickers and google destitute chaps.

Good spot - moved :y:

Thank you, where's the thanks button. Ah HEEEERE IT IS hello gorgeous.

We have a "report a post" feature for just this reason - and yet we see less than one post a day reported on average I'd say :( I'd keep on top of it if I saw more reports and knew where to look :p

Assuming this started at some point back in the general chat section rather than the pics/progress section where it is currently?

Agreed with the thoughts that general crap, I mean chat section is frustrating at times with some of the blatant shite that it attracts. Very rarely is there a thread worthy of getting involved in. At least it mostly means that the important sections do have good content

give me some mod power, given the amount of clusterfuck in general chat, I could spend the whole day reporting stuff and end up as a grass for attention whores who don't give a single damn about why they should post here instead of there, clear case of look at me.

Pretty much 9 pages of hate with about 5 updates. Jesus.

I like them. Not a fan of your wheels myself but that's just my preference. Theres a smoothed one with an early bumper (the one more like a B bumper if that makes sense). Has a set of BBS reps on it. Looks real clean. I think the early bumper makes the front look wider too.

Also, full leathers are not rare as hell but pretty rare iirc? Lik eusually they're half leather? They look nice :)
