I moved onto my bmw 330d a few months ago and well I'm getting slightly bored of it already, dunno if its because its auto (even though I always have it in steptronic mode) or because it tops out at 4.5k revs an I'm used to cars just coming alive then lol it also returns really crap mpg for a diesel between 32-35
I do enjoy the torque though and have got used to it now
thing is I'm not really sure what car I would like to move onto :S
I would have about 4-4.5k to spend that would be me sellin the 306 aswell, would like it to at least get mid 30s mpg and possibly have around 200+ bhp but will listen to good suggestions that are below that
another option would be to sell just the 306 and remap the bmw to around 240ish bhp

Do you like the bimmers? Not sure what the mpg is like, but a 330i?

You do realise that even if you do remap your bmw, it'll still only top out at about 4.5k as it's a diesel.

But remapping a 330d bmw gives you 240bhp and nearly 500 torques ;)

Don't think he'll be doing it himself, so doubt he'll need a manual... He could just look it up online anyway if he needed info! trollolol

I prefer diesels to be honest, saves having to wait for it to rev up to 4.5k, the car comes alive at 1.5k instead!

If you drive a diesel like a petrol yes it's slow, if you drive a diesel like a diesel you should constantly be on the torque.

lol no I know that, I would just be hoping with the increase in bhp an torque would make it more fun
I have nothing against CTR and would like to drive one but i think the torque would be an issue now after having the bmw

You'd just have to drive the EP differently that's all.

yeah I know, would drive it similar to my old 306gti6 but then although it is a step up from that it doesnt feel like a massive step

Mk1 Octavia vRS, mine is chipped to 210bhp, 235lb ft, returns 35mpg average.
Glues itself to the bumper of 330i's and is comfy, plenty of toys and even handles well enough.

Would rather that much power and torque in a car that doesn't weigh as much as the earth TBH.
Although, in all honesty, I do like 330Ds, and anything over 328s in petrol version, but if you're not happy with it, it's pointless trying to justify it to yourself, especially since the MPG isn't exactly anything to shout about either, not when there's plenty of similarly powered petrols out there that return better MPG easily. (Mate put a picture on FB of his R26 Meg's trip computer showing an avg. of 44.4MPG...)

But the knowing you'd whoop anything this side of Veyron would make up for that.

On uneven/bumpy short bends they are - Probably get abuse for this.. but My uncle was very surprised he couldn't get away from my shitbox on his R1.
But on Big open smooth long bend's - no car stand's a chance.
You won't get anywhere near the same adrenalin buzz from a bike though. They are epic.

I guess it's two different preferences, I get much more enjoyment from corners, which bikes from granted my limited experience seem shit at.

Around the 'Ring which lets be honest is the home testing ground for fast road/ occisonal track day use cars which we all own..
oem for oem bike wins
slighty fettled for slightly fettled car wins
full race car/bike.. its anyones game, its either whos got the biggest balls or has more talent.
