View Full Version : 1.1 shocks/Springs on a vtr?

I know this sounds like a stupid question and i might be completely embaressing myself here but is it possible to fit for example the apex damper and spring kit for a 1.1 to a vtr?

The reason i would do this is purely because i've seen that the '60mm' kit for a VT actually only lowers it 50mm. So i was thinking that seeing as the flat arch engines are lighter than a VT surely fitting the softer 1.1 kit would lower a VT 60mm or slightly more?

Sorry for sounding stupid as i dont really have any knowledge of suspension
Thanks! :)

i had this theory once before lol
so i fit 60mm 1.1 gmax springs to my vtr with the hope it would give it atleast a true 60mm drop on the front as no other spring does.

Turned out it only lowered it about 45mm :homme:

They will fit yes. You are also correct the weight does impact the end ride height. But don't forget the stock ride height of the stock Saxo varied massively on what model you had. So any spring that listed as lowing a given model so many mm may still end up with a higher ride height then say a standard Saxo VTS as they where much lower from new.

Also don't forget that a VTS only gets a few inches of travel before the car starts sitting on the standard bump stops at the front. So putting springs much shorter then 50mm lowering springs will never lower the car as much as you think unless you cut down or remove the pump stops ( i strongly recommend NOT removing the bump stops )

im glad im not the only one LSO! :P

it seems that its going to have to be 50mm on the front then. No worries!
