Whats wrong with the free ones i have used AVG and Anti Vir for many many years and never had any infections other then the usual trojan warnings you get with lets say acquired software ;)
Tbh why pay for what you can get for free ?

I used AVG on previous 2 laptops and they ran like pigs after a few month, now got a Vaio and using Microsoft Security Essentials and still picking up shite like Trojans etc?
Just re downloaded Spybot and done a huge (2 hours 30) scan of the system and still hasnt removed everything!

A) You bought a Vaio, Overpriced laptop for the spec no doubt
B) Free antivirus is not a bad thing. I have used Avast for a long time now and coupled with Malware_Bytes and a hefty dose of common sense and I've had no problems.
If you are intent on paying for something then I would go with Kaspersky or BitDefender. Both are reputable makes and score very well in comparisons.
As said though, there is no reason why you cannot get by with freeware.

Anti Virus :homme:
Manually removing a virus is where its at :geek:
On a serious note, NOD32 is a good one if you wish to pay - Avast free version isn't bad

Yep unfortunately there is no such software that makes you 100% safe its like a johnny one mistake and your fecked but its all about taking pecautions for example i have used either AVG or Anti Vir, Spy Bot and Firefox and never had a virus so it seems to work for me and my kids have used the pc many times and they are young so dont even know what they click on half the time lol you sure your girlfriend was looking at holiday sites ;)

Avast.
AVG was once ok but slows down everything after updating over the course of a few weeks.
