ok ive been reading up about people upgrading their brakes to 206 gti brakes is this a good option without touching the master cylinder or is it best to change the master cylinder and also what are the advantages and disadvantages with changing the master cylinder and without changing the master cylinder?
thanks haydn

Personally i preferred mine with the standard master cylinder. But a lot of people use the 23mm master cylinder from a few different models. Obviously depending on whether you have/dont have abs will determine which ones you can use. In basic terms fitting the bigger calipers increases pedal travel, and fitting the matching master cylinder will reduce it back if that makes sense. Won't improve the brakes per se but its all down to preference imo.

I'm on the standard one, I love how progressive it is!

Same I'm very happy with my 283mm brakes with OEM master cylinder, I got a 23mm master cylinder for my mate from a scrappy from a non abs 406

The 206gti brakes dont really need the MS upgrade - it's down to personal preference on pedal travel. Once you go 4-pot (406 brembos etc) then I'd really recommend it as there's a lot more pedal travel than I'm comfortable with!

Depends what size MC you have on to start with, 1.1 etc have a smaller one than VTS :panic: the travel on my furio when I fitted the 266mm brakes was horrible! Feels ace now after fitting the 23mm MC from a 406

Good shout - I forgot about the poverty spec saxos...

anything other than the vts will have 19mm MS. The VTS ones are 22mm. The "one to have" is a 406 MS which is 23mm (if you want to upgrade it that is). :) Cheers Baz.

No. They'll most likely make it worse. Get the following:

1. Self Control
2. Better tyres
3. Wider wheels

In that order :)

if the back's locking up the bias is fucked. I presume the car is lowered? Has the bias been removed or left in place?

Adjust the brake bias valve on the rear if you dont have ABS fitted. Is the rear lowered and stripped out?
