Last night was driving back down a hill, came upon a corner with a small river flowing across it. Wasn't driving stupidly or fast, just started aqua planing and sadly i slid across the other side of the road, up the curb and into hedge...
:clapping:
Quite a few people saw it and managed to push the car back onto four wheels, but my car is in a sorry state. which leads me to a few questions.
Repair it? It'll need a new door, rear pillar can be filled, headlight and housing, and potentially (not had it up on ramps yet) new axel?
Or buy an identical 5 door, and just change it on the policy. I presume it'd be the same price.

Defo upgrade, not worth the money repairing that. Get yourself a VT! And take more care in future when you see water on the road, now that you know what even a small amount can do! I was on the M25 last year in quite bad weather, didn't see the monstrous puddle coming up in the outside lane and i literally ended up between the inside/middle lanes within a few seconds. Scary times. Now i drive through water like an old woman!

Could fix it for under £100 if you found the parts cheap and done it yourself. Could have damaged something else which isnt visible to the eye though?

Use filler on the door too tbh.

Yeah the arch abit and the sill looks straight. Door took most of the punt.
If theres comments like that about 3 things damaged on a car they maybe want to take a gander in the progress section as theres cars much worser off then that..

If it drives still, kick the dents out best you can and drive it again.
Was hardly going to win any awards for looks before the accident.....
My old saxo looked worse than that for a long time lol, still did the all important a - b.
Good luck with it :y:

going to.pull the whole front back across
thatll be a jig job then
that and the beam id say write off
beam is a deffo replace itll of bent the hub stuf ruined the rear drum and shoesaswell as the bearing and probably the main beam pivot
if it was repaired theres a new axle for starters
then jigging the front oh theres the cash for a new car

I'd say the whole shell is twisted looking at the front pic
Panels can be deceiving but that's not worth repairing
Defo wouldn't want to drive it again, take. Anything salvageable off it, what ever sells can go toward a new car, keep the other bits as spares and scrap the shell

My cars in much worse nick than that, the body work is awful... Doesnt bother me.
I've taped the front lights in place
bumper is cable tied on - wrong colour too
plastic arches are cable tied on
its just a bodge, but it doesnt matter if it gets you around.
Theres nothing illegal about driving around with a few dents, is there?
I would probly get the mirror sorted though...

i'd drive it back to where you aquaplaned and make a proper job of it, just to be double sure you don't have to drive it again...

If it's deemed dangerous (such as sharp) or affects the car in a negative way then yes...
but..
the M.O.T should stop you in your tracks when the it's due :y:

Don't have enough moula for an upgrade. :O M.o.t was done a few weeks ago.

my thoughts exactly maybe a new slam panel, drum beams are easy to pick up jsut get down to scrappy buy soem silver panels and a beam for a couple hundred and bolt it all on and see how it looks, or wait until its written off see what the insuracne say and if its not that bad buy it back for pennies and use the money to buy the parts you need and hoepfully have some change left over

Defo wouldn't get the Insurance involved unless I needed to :p
Not worth the arse raping when you can buy another for pennies

also very true, but id have a go at fitting a couple new doors, wing mirror, arch, slam panel, head light and beam if the scrap yard gives him a decent price

How did you manage to slide up a kerb whilst aqua plaining???
Would have though those bicycle tyres wouls have limited this.
Still, not worth the hassle imo, get a new car.

Ah shit the bed. :
where the fuck did you pick that up from? i say it alot, but never here anyone else use it, and have no idea where i got it from. lol
back on subject
why are the front legs bent, just because the bumper is out of align, all the brackets etc could just be bent pushing it out of shape,
if there is a still a few months mot on it mate, take the rear door card off, kick the dent out, get down the scrappy and get a headlight for 15 quid and stick it on, and use it for a couple months,

No other sap was involved. I'll aim for you next time.
Am I bollacks going to insurance for this. It's not worth it. Im off to pick up an identical car to this tomorrow for 400. might get 150-200 from my scrappy for this lump now...
200-250 for a new car, works out even as repairs ( i immagine) but might drive better.
