im wanting to smooth my boot,
anyone have any tips or advice on the matter?
also whats the best way to to go about it?
i have a level 1 in body repair and paint so i know roughly what im doing. just not how to do it if that makes sence

basically smooth the whole boot, debadge, delock, and smoothe there the number plate is.

Remove moulding from boot then badges. Weld up all holes and make a plate to go in the reg plate recess then weld it in. Then use a glass rich filler such as isopon and then a normal filler on top.

What he said basically. The hardest part is getting it smooth without any ripples. Took me ages to do mine, have a look at my progress thread to see what I did.

thanks for the info/ advice.
i think il buy a new boot lid from a scrappy and work on that 1, if i make a hash if it then im not stuffed :)

You can also buy a fiberglass cover for the boot its like a second layer and it just needs bonded on and painted. Thats how my boots been smoothed.

don't bother with the fibreglass covers, they crack and can look terrible and rippled

thanks for the heads up!
al see what i can dig up at the scrappy and take it from there, like a mini project .
