Try leaving it switched on for 5 mins with some penetrating oil on it. It will come off but you don't want to shatter the rear window so it may be worth buying/begging/stealing a wiper removal tool.

is it just the wiper blade you want off then?
if so i found it quite easy by lifting the arm off the wind screen then putting the wiper blade horizontal then pushing down.

if your on about the rear wiper then you need to buy a 3 piece grommet set from pug/cit dealer for about 2 -3quid

Yes thats what I was talking about, you need something that puts even pressure on the spline rather than just wrenching it which if you pull too hard will shatter the rear window.

woohoo got it off using a set of vicegrips, same priciple as the wipper romal tool - and then used a pair of pliers to tighten it :D
