How easy are they to fit with the engine in?

Relatively, as with everything like this, you need a basic understanding to be able to fit them

Hoping I'm competent enough to fit :)
Just not sure how much room you need for drilling etc.

When i come to drilling the hole in bulkhead i will be removing the heater as i dont think the drill will fit and id rather it be spot on and in the right position. The rest of it will be fitted when the engine is out though.

Definitely alot easier if the dash and/or the engine is out

they all serve different purposes. The satchshift is also £350, the diff £700, and the gearing £1800. Quite a difference!

The satchshift feels amazing. Totally worth it :)

These Satchshifts are just really tall gear levers without the really big throw right?

As far as i can see it puts the gear stick almost next to the wheel so dont have to have 1 hand of the wheel for as long, and its a short throw...

Yes, pretty much sums it up. Moves the knob right up close to the steering wheel, meaning more time with both hands on the wheel, and lever throw is MASSIVELY reduced - perhaps 2 inches from 1st gear to 2nd gear. The feel is very precise too - that's harder to explain, but it's much more positive an engagement.

Once you feel one, you'll fall in love. Think I sold about 3 when I went to FCS last year - several people sat in the car and drooled over it! I should have asked Colin/Sandy for a kickback :p

That's a different Colin, and I wouldn't trust that one to tie his shoe laces without assistance...

Sandy309 is the forum name to contact, or you can contact Kev from KAM Racing who is an official supplier for the Satchshift.

Sandy's/Colin's (Satchell) support is awesome also, so I can't really recommend them enough. I had the first BE gearbox satchshift, and there was a few issues with it when we fitted it as you'd expect. The replacement redesigned parts were with us lightning fast and worked exactly as we'd discussed. Awesome guys :)

Mine should be back in the car within a few weeks, so if you're up this way you can always come round and feel my knob...

They all do vastly different things. The Satchshift (http://www.kamracing.co.uk/citroen/citroen-saxo/saxo-transmission/quickshift-kits/citroen-saxo-tu-engine-sachell-engineering-gearlever-kit.html) completely replaces the linkage mechanism and gives a far more precise and accurate gearchange. Limiting the risk of a fluffed gearchange can mean the difference between winning and losing.

These have been very popular with race drivers since we started selling them.

I first saw them and thought they were a load of crap. Doesn't make you go any quicker, or slow down any better- what a waste of money.
Sat next to someone for a few laps round Oulton who had one fitted. Before I left the circuit I had ordered one :p
Fitted it over the winter and there is no going back! Feel is far better than standard, and having it next to the wheel means minimum time with only one hand on the wheel.

just going to bump this up, can you fit these with the heater still in the car or do you have to remove it?

Ross
24th September 2012, 13:29
yes can be fitted with heater still in place :)

jpsaxo
24th September 2012, 13:44
Mines fitted with the heater still in, it doesn't even go close to the heater matrix :)

I was going to suggest to rorz that he PM you actually, as your install is a good example - you've bent the upper internal linkage i seem to remember so you don't even have to touch the dash :) Might be worth some pics Josh if you happen to have any (and feel obliged!)

Mine fits without hitting dash without an modification to the Satchshift. I also fitted it with the engine still in the bay, took two of us, about 3 hours to remove the old stuff and fit this. Had to use a right angle drill to drill the two mounting holes as not eunf room to drill them with the engine still in.

But not too bad, but helps it a very well manufactured kit, so helps a lot.
