Yes mate, just replacing the spring will reduce the compliance of the suspension. This is why people use uprated dampers to prevent the suspension bottoming out. Although it depends how low your car is because if you go stupid even with uprated dampers there simply isn't enough suspension travel.

And yes the damping rate and sprung rate go hand in hand. If you lower the car 30mm or 60mm they will require different dampers.

Depends on the spring rate, what springs are they? Usually easier to buy as a kit. Also 50mm is a bit low, it is gonna bang about over bumps anyway.

If you bought a Spax PSX kit (or similar), it gives you the option to adjust the ride smoothness. The Spax kit is reasonably priced too but comes in 40mm and 60mm. Or you could just buy some uprated/adjustable shocks/dampers.

I have a GMC kit, 40 mil all round. And its a sexy ride. cost me 439 quid for the full kit. Including delivery

yes there are certain shocks you can buy depending on how low you have gone by the way!!
