Need some advice from someone who knows there stuff about shock absorbers.

I currently have a gaz coilover setup on my saxo atm and i have it wound all the way down so it sits around 75mm lowered. The problem is one of my shocks has blown and ive started to look for a replacement. However the gaz shocks are around £83 each! which is abit dear tbh so im after a cheaper sort, BUT with one that will handle being battered around with being so low.

Can anybody recommend me a good shock absorber that isnt too much money!

Thanks any help is appreciated

Tbh your handling is ruined so badly being that low any shock will do...

But to answer your specific question, you'll have to look at spax or something worse as even bilstein are too expensive for your budget.

£83 each is a good buy for your setup frankly.

I was thinking about getting a cheaper make but tbh i dont really want to have a different shock on each side. I might just have to stretch abit and fork out for it :/ just dont really want to blow another one up if they are that price tbh!

send them back to gaz to be rebuilt, will be less than £83 I'd bet, then when you fit them back on the car don't run it so stupid low and they will last a LOT longer :)

any damper run that low will just twat the bumpstops constantly and wont last as long as something running at a sensible ride height unless a massive amount of fabrication is done to allow for adequate travel, like what colin satchell is doing.

I was going to send them back but the only problem is then i wont be able to use my car and i need it on a daily basis so its out of the question tbh. And i cant have it at a sensible height its not low enough for me as it is! lol

The other thing i was debating was someone is selling some Bilstein B4 front dampers in the for sale section, and i read up about them and they say not to run them any lower than 40mm so i think they wont be able to cope with the abuse.

B4's will be utter waste of money on your car.

What's the obsession with the low ride height? Honestly - you're ruining one of the best aspects of the car - its handling. :(

If anyone says "needs lowering y0" just tell em your car out handles theirs. Simples. Don't buckle to peer pressure!

Thats what i thought lol.

I dont really need it to have good handling tbh im not racing it anywere just driving to work and back and going out in. And i have my car for looks not speed lol

plus having it higher wouldnt suit my wheels either! aha

Why do people need 75mm down?

Just go 40-50mm which makes it look better and the car will keep the handling.

I guess its for looks most, thats why mine is soo low but im not after good handling as i dont need it for what i use the car for.

it may not be practical but i like it lol.
