Dont wont to post this on facebook as dont want everybody knowing by business.
Ive got 2 job offers, both starting on the 28th aug.
One working for Tesco bank and one working for capital one.
The tesco bank is £8.12 an hour, 40 hours a week, 12 weeks with an agency with a view of possibly and probably being extended or made permanent with Tesco, they say probably i assume to want you to work the 12 weeks as they will make money for every hour you work (the agency). If your kept on the wage at tesco is around £26k apparently.
or
Capitol one is £7.30 an hour, and is a full time role and contract straight away, with a 6month probationary period.
Both jobs are working within 7.30am - 9pm monday to saturday, but with tesco bank you work sundays also.
Baring in mind the local job market etc which is crap what would you guys do?

I take it this is telesales? I'd go with the 6 month contract, gives you more time to look for something worthwhile

No no sales, just customer service, helping existing customers.

26k for customer services? Shit the bed.

I'd go with the capital one job. I'd be willing to accept 82p less an hour for a job that was secure - rather than one where you might be out in 12 months.
Plus you'll have sundays off. You're working quite long hours anyway, you'll be grateful for having a whole weekend.

On that wage, with them hours, its £16,889.60 a year.. 10k short of 26k..
But still, id go with the tesco one, you will be better off for 12 weeks, and then you can keep looking elsewhere, you won't be stuck if you hate the job, and if theres a chance of been kept on, then its all good..

I'd go for the perminant position to play safe as you don't want to get to the end of the temporary contact to find your not needed , 26k for customer service??
I'm in the channel islands and I work 8am till 4pm 5 days a week as a courier and I'm on £21k a year before overtime (£10.20 per hr)

All depends if you have dependants, and having a permenant job would be better due to the definate income :) but if you only have a phone bill/car insurance then taking the gamble with a temp job could be worth while.
But i dont see how the tesco job pays 26k on those fiigures surely a bank should get this right!
8.12 x 40 = 324.8 x 4 = 1299.2 x 12 = 15590.4

The 40 hours is per week, not per day, remember.

Jobs arent just about the wage..
Choose which ever has been prospects / benefits.
Nothing wrong with working as agency loads of places do it, after 12 weeks you get paid the same and same holidays as perm staff. :homme:

In this climate where you'd be lucky to get a single job offer. Take the one that's permanent. I've got a friend who keeps getting 6 month contracts with banks working in events. They pay well don't get me wrong but she never gets the offer for permanent because the banks know they can tap a cheap resource. She's stuck in this endless loop of job insecurity and it's not a good wondering if you'll have a job in 3 months.

I'd personally go with Tesco, my friend started out temp and got made permanent, and he has said its not a bad place to work, the wages are no where near 26k tho
Captial one, isnt that the credit card for people with shit credit? If so fuck that, you will spend half your time chasing people for payments lol

you goto work for money, its a massive pay difference, id go for the better paid job if u dont have a house kids etc..
just because the cap1 is a perm job, doesnt mean ull get it after the 6 months probation although more likely
