Sand them down so the paint will stick to them, get any crap off them, primer them with a few layers, paint then laquer. I wouldnt do mine personally as the colour match wont be too good off spray cans.
Host some pics of the progress.
Also give people a chance to reply, you only posted the thread 8 minutes before your second post.

Depends on the garage bud. Could cost from a £100 - £200. I did mine myself and I found it not that hrad. You need to sand it down properly and make sure that it is smooth. I used about 3 different grades of sandpaper ranging from 600 to 1200. Don't forget that you need to sand it between each coat to make sure that it is smooth. If you do not prep it all up in the first place then it will show in the final finish.

so sand after each coat has dried?? won't that sand to the paint/primer completely off...?

Hmmm... if you've never done anything like it before, I wouldn't suggest you get it done yourself. The problem with the bumper and side rub strips is that they're not smooth but have a textured surface, which people have said needs to be rubbed down to get that smooth finish.
To colour code the parts properly, it's advisable to remove the front bumper, rear bumper, side rub strips, etc... Colour coding them while they're on the car will leave a physical line, which will look silly.
The side rub strips are clipped on but 99% are also glued. The bloke who did mine found this out the hard way. He removed the door card but had to snap it because it was glued on and to therefore buy another.
I paid £400 for all mine to be colour coded which consisted of front bumper strip, front lower splitter, side rub strips and rear bumper strip. I also had the film that was on the B-pillar removed. It came out very well and I was a little worried at first because my car's already black so i wasn't sure how much of a difference it would make.
So you have a posi blue VTR. In my honest opinion, I think you should leave them as they are. If not, have them done black because the blue/black theme is looovely. Having all the strips colour coded makes it "too much" and I think it needs something to break it up.
Just my two pennies worth...

I nearly started to colour code my Phase2 VTS last weekend but was worried about the front getting chipped and there is nothing worse than a car thats got bits of black poking out from painted bumpers.
Mine is silver but I'm still running with my standard VTS 15s and standard ride height so it might look to much of the same colour.
I think if your decked on the floor with nice wheels then maybe colour coding is the right move, but if not why not wait. The money that it'll cost to colour code could go along way on eBay :afro:

Like I said in a nother thread, I am doing mine this sunday. I am a sprayer and tbh I wouldnt do it out of spray cans or even try and lacquer with a spray can. I am doing mine using a proper spray gun and proper lacquer.
