Anyone had one of these?
What are they like?
I'm seriously thinking of getting one as i'm fed up of spending a fortune on fuel to just get back and fore work

A friend has one, pretty Quik, good on fuel, vag quality.. and looks nice in grey.
I prefer them standerd rather than what some vag boys do to em..
Is it just a polo?

im unsure on them, it had poke but it's soon over, the suspension was surprisingly hard and the owner did have a couple of major issues when it did break.
Did 55ish mpg, it was the 1.9 diesel, dont know what bhp.

I had one. Great little car and feels faster than it is. I managed 98.1 mpg average on the way to work over 20 miles once. Interior is a little bland but rock solid. In 4 years it cost me a grand and that was its last service which had belt and brakes in there. Not bad from zero miles to the 70k I put on it

How far is work? How many miles do you average a week/month?

Work is about 20 mins or 18 miles away, in my golf I'm currently spending £50 a week just for work and the Ibiza would be miles better, I do about 200 miles a week roughly and an Ibiza would save me a considerable amount

Nice cars, my mate has one.. Does well, he works a good 25-30 miles away, and has had it 2 years now, never known it be broken..

I'm gonna do a few very rough calculations as normally diesels don't actually save that much money unless you do mega miles.
Let's say your golf averages 30mpg and the Ibiza 50mpg.
Per week the golf will cost £39.98 the Ibiza £24.89.
Your saving roughly £15 a week, £60 a month or £780 per year.
Not a bad saving tbf, you just need to decide how much it's likely to cost you to swap and if it works out cost effective. If you have to add a few grand to the value of your golf to swap to a similar condition/mileage Ibiza its probably not worth it but if there around the same value and similar/cheaper insurance go for it!
Hope this helps

i had one, brilliant had the 06 model in grey with xenons etc... all that when wrong for me in the year was croded wishbone mounts (probably due to the torque) As mentioned above they do feel much quicker then they are!!

Brother had a Cupra TDi with the PD160. Only good thing about it was it went like a scalded rat.
Interiors are plastic fantastic, suspension was far too stiff. It lacked the so called VAG build quality. Just felt like a cheaply made car tbh. He hated it.

30mpg is too high, mines doing 25 :O, it works out that instead of putting £250 a month into her, I will be putting half that or less in a month

Yes I have one, I get silly MPG 60-65 on a good day.. £10 will see you around 100 miles with abit of hard driving.
They are quick, not fast. first few gears pulls very well.
Re-map one and it makes so much difference.. pulls away from a few cars and still get good mpg.
I like mine alot, the road noise is loud, and the suspension is hard from standard.
But overall a good car.

Poorer than a w reg audi...
I dont understand how 3 cars built on the same floorpan a3, golf, fabia, can range so much in price... They have same floorpan, same motor, nearly same quality... (i still believe that skodas havent quite madebit yet... Well as of a few years ago)
Story time with greyjasper51!!
Was in portugal and rented a golf estate and a fabia estate... Dropped the glove box of the golf, and smashed it back up, seated perfectly...
Repeat with skoda... Ripped the plastic hinges off, both not reached 1000kms...
Then we had rental car chalenges :-) go from track to hotel not using the brakes (handbrake banned as well)
Again from track to hotel without clutch... Parking was fun :-)
