It should just pull out mate. The ball joint is fitted within a groove with a plastic clip in the back of the headlight. If you twist the Valeo unit (motor) and then move it up a little, the ball joint should just come off. It took my fecking ages to get the ball joint back into the groove though. I took the light(s) down to Citroen and they put it back in for me :-)

mmmm not to sure then mate, i fitted my mk2 smokes the other month. Just unpluged all the bulbs n twisted n pulled the motor out. then end of the motor has a very small kinda ball on the end of a white stick. It was really easy...

Just take the lights down to Citroen mate and slip them a tenner. They'll take them out and put them back in or in some new lights if you want.

thanks for your help man :)
I after fiddling with the headlamp adjustments and everything i managed to remove it (it was a doddle in the end) then the bloody thing would fit the other headlamp. the groove is much smaller. going to try heating it up at some point and trying again.
Thanks everyone :)
