Hi guys, just joined up after one of my mates who also races recommended this forum as a good source of help and advice.
I'm currently in the (very long) process of preparing a car for the 750mc Stock Hatch Championship. I've previously raced in the class B 'Classic Hatch' championship so not a complete novice but always fancied preparing one myself and also thought it time for something a bit newer and faster.
Things are going fairly well so far apart from the added complications of meeting new regs that ruled out the head in my late car. Other than that, if anyone can help me out with where to find a pugsport downpipe to fit to a standard manifold, it'd be much appreciated!

There like rockinghorse... Well you get me and there arent many people that know what they are... Also i might have a way round it ;-) wont be cheap but better itll be :-)

Welcome Paul :) There's several knowledgable race car owners on these forums - if you post up any specifics you need help with one of them will undoubtably reply

If you can get one or at least take some photos and outer bore measurements we can copy it. I had a stock hatch racer say they would send me one but they never did.

Neither of us have one i know a few people that do have them but they take them off when the car gets sent back for work... They dont leave their sight...

If you have a completely standard VTR then the most cost effective way is to sell it and go and buy a completed and competed car. Usually then about £4-6k
If you get a good one with AST suspension etc, plenty of spares and other parts you save a fortune.

As for building a competitive car you will need:
Non sunroof skin
FIA full roll cage
In date seats
Sidemounts
Harness
Weld in seat mounts
Plumbed in extinguisher
Rain light
Electric cut off
Bonnet pins
Remove steering lock
Boot pins
Yokohama A048 tyres
Then think about AST/GAZ suspension
24-26mm torsion bars
25mm ARB
Braided lines and Bias valve
CL pads
Brembo OEM discs
Polyrace bushes
New uprated driveshafts
New wishbones and ball joints
New drop links and top mounts track rods and ends etc
Rebuilt compliant MK1/MK2 engine variation and VTR gearbox
Omex 600 or emeral ecu and loom mapped
New clutch kit
uprated engine mounts
exhaust system
panel filter
oil catch tank
plus a bit more.....costs a lot
You will need spares. It's stock hatch...there will be contact! :P

Ok thanks for the replies. The information is very useful.
I had planned to buy an already prepared car so sounds like that is the best option.
I've read through most of the regulations and compared your list. It's good that they try to keep the costs down by keeping everything "stock" but I bet there are front running cars which have had loads of money spent on them.
Maybe Classic Stock Hatch class B is a better option?
