View Full Version : Two Tone - colours?

I have a 2001 VTS Two tone.
The drivers door is badly damaged on the 'upper' part - the lighter grey.
Someone has also painted over the scar and if cheap enough I'd just rather replace the door - given I have poly windows to go in anyway.

The picture makes it look better than it is.

Am I right in assuming the lighter grey is an Icelandic grey or are two colours not used on other saxo's? In looking for the colour code, I have only found one - so don't know if this is the bottom part or the top!

Not many of these get broken for spares :(

The light grey isn`t icelandic grey its more like quartz silver. The bottom kitted part looks like gunmetal grey.

You are on the change over time for silver,
so could be

Older is EYC - Quartz silver
Newer is EZR - Arctic steel

The code for the dark grey of the VT? kit is
EYT - Orageux grey

If it's only the lighter part that's damaged, just take the kit off the door and buy a new door off a silver VT, then swap the trim over.

Indeed, that is my plan. The question is which silver (if any) that's on the other saxo's. My guess was Icelandic. May have to revise that.

Had my car in a couple of times for touch ups and that. And that's the code we used.

Hmmmm interesting :fcuk:

Must have changed the dark grey at the same time as the silver

We got the EYT code off here originally.
Got some from local paint shop, and it matched.

Our is the earlier EYC silver (Jaybiss old car),
I know yours is the later EZR.

Thinking about it we saw Yates old one at FCS.
We both commented on how much lighter the grey of the kit was compared to ours.

OP. You have a Y reg, same as me (VTR) (Silver Top Engine, 3 Plug ECU)

Firstly, the Silver is EYCC - Quartz silver. I can confirm this as I have a dribble left in a tin that the body shop used to respray my door after it got scratched. They used a mirror cap to confirm the code that was printed in the door strut. (Though it doesn't say the darker colour code) It says EYCC on the tin its self.

And the winner is...

Yes it's eycc.

Now - any cars that are this colour all over - is the question?

Is quartz silver a colour on any saxo's other than two tone? My idea would be to buy a door from a breakers rather than have it/one sprayed.

I personally would get the door re-sprayed. I had the my drivers door gash filled, sprayed and the surrounding area's blended in for £150. Pukka job too.

YES Quartz Silver is available on other Mk2's. I think there is a 'Arctic Silver' which has a tinge of blue to it. Hard to notice the difference unless your comparing side by side.

Your best bet would be to take a mirror cap to the scrap yard and compare from that.

For £150 I'll just put a sticker over it! But £50 I'll take a punt. It's a track car after all.

What did you crash into to get that dent? A air born piece of gravel?

Thanks, have emailed them to see if it's quartz.

It doesn't look a deep enough shade of silver to be EYCC imo. But it could be that eBay have reduced the resolution of the photo.

Trampoline - wasn't me though. Bought it that way.

They have confirmed quartz. Not sure how at 11pm at night! Now worried they are just saying so! Free delivery though.

Small update.

Eycc door has arrived and has been prep'd to go on. I've got the old door stripped ready for swaps at the weekend.

I still need the code for the darker grey body kit, as some paint has flaked on the rear arch. Any idea?
