Yh! Thats what i had old diesel fiesta! More torque, less power, much more insurable (competetive prices) cheaper to run...
Only thing is there not cool!!

Had a 1.5d saxo (so non turbo). Was as fast as a 1.1 saxo...

There not the best cars but insurance and running costs should be cheap.

Your probably better off getting a diesel tbh you can probably get a faster diesel then petrol for the insurance price. Plus there better on fuel

yes mate my current car even though i learned in my saxo. 307 2.0l turbo hdi been remapped so yes not bad for a first car obviously not rocket fast but the torque is good and the insurance ain't bad either.

I would deffo go for a diesel! The fuel seems to last longer even if it is more expensive. Its normally cheaper as well I believe. My fella has a Ford Mondeo ST and managed to get to Germany from Nottingham on 3/4 of a tank.
Also, if you get a diesel with 100k on clock you havent got to worry too much as it'll run fine for another 100k unlike petrols :)

Personally id say do it! People that i know with cars all drive to stupid places far away for the laugh so if it was me id save a lot of fuel! Only problem is most of the people i know have fast cars (evo's, subaru's audi's, bmw's ect) so a newer diesel that would be easier to tune (remap ect) would be a better option

It is I spent 25mins on the phone yesterday giving him all my details reg plate postcode etc only to be told that they won't insure a driver with no ncb on a 1.2! That's pathetic imo
