Had my 52 VTR broken in to the other night. Think they were after the stereo but stupid idiots broke the front trying to get it out as it had a removable front but suppose it was my fault for leaving it on! So just left it.
They did the classic of bending the top of the door down and reaching in and unlocking it. Luckily they didnt bend it down that much so I was able to bend it back and you cant really tell that it happened now.
Police had a look but said they were wearing gloves.
Just left me with a new head unit to buy!

Yeah going to have a look in to one.
Police told me to leave glove box open on a night so if they come looking they can see that there is nothing in it.

De-locked + de-pinned would be a deterrent too.

De-pinned for sure cost like £1.59 for the grommits, not sure how much de-locking it is but would quess a fair bit ?

How would de-locking a car deter someone from bending the top of the door? If anything it makes it even easier to get into.

Good point!
Worth checking ebay / for sale section for de-locked doors :P
Or DIY
I'd imagine a body shop would do it for 100ish?
:y:
EDIT jay - De-pinned so that would put them off the bending door job. and would look towards shoving a screwdriver down the side of the lock to lift the bar up.. If they see no pins / locks.. their other option would be to throw a brick through the window, So good chance they'd just move on..

Well as he said de-lock and de-pin not one or the other how will they unlock it..

Delocked - One punt from a screwdriver to where the lock was and any plate/filler will break. I know from experience as I used to repair this kind of thing.
Depinned I agree with, that would deter them from bending the top of the door.

Fair enough, I'm sure there would be ways around most things.. But it might still put off most people.

Don't think it's worth de-locking as you've got to remember the kind of tramps that are going to brake into a saxo for a headunit aren't going to give a fuck what kind of mess they leave behind so they'll get in one way or another.
Alarms the only thing to really help.

This happened to me - open boot - jump in - rip doorcard off - unlock. :y:

i did similar, i tried to rip the card off but you can't take the right side out (left side if you're talking about the passenger door) because the chair is in the way - this resulted in me just using the boot as the door for good.

that's why you undo the 4 bolts that hold the seat in, takes 2 minutes :y:

My fob is already broken so thats not really an option :(
Just going to make sure I leave nothing in from now on, leave glove box open and always take the front off the head unit.

you undo the 4 bolts that hold the seats in
that are under the seats themselves
using no tools
in a saxo
without opening any doors
you're mad haha, are you a 4ft skinny chinese bloke with the skills of an olympian gymnast or something?

So in effect, If something goes wrong (ie a dead battery) when you try to stop other people breaking into your car - You have to break into it yourself?
i see the sense there! :)

No i havent got a delocked boot and if my battery dies you just put a long screwdriver through the grille and pull the bonnet catch wire. Done it before, easy as.
