Excuse me as i am clueless when it comes to car audio :n:
I only have a small budget so I was just looking to upgrade the standard speakers, are these any good? value for money?

they will do as a better speaker than standards, yes :)

they would be ok, but if you aren't too bothered then just get some coaxial speakers - easier to fit and would run better if your not amping them

disagree with this.

how hard is it to drill a couple of holes? fit a pair of comps in under an hour easy.

welll no its not 'hard' but you cant disagree that coaxs are easier to fit!!

not at all, still sound pish compared to comps, bit more effort, much better sound.
