Hi Basically i have Alpine 6x9 speakers in the back (I know shoot me) and pioneer door speakers up front. My problem is since owning the car the audio has been really bad. Peaking quickly and really shit quality even for 6x9. Im 99% sure its not just down to the speakers and more of an electrical/installation problem. Does anybody have any idea why it might be performing badly? If i adjust the settings on the cd player it makes it sound a bit better but it sounds like its just a fake loud. There is practically no bass i can only assume the 6x9 are wired up to the door speakers or something?

Are you running them from the head unit? I'd recommend getting yourself an amp to power them

It'll be your head unit mine are the same. It sends all the bass to the sub to give a clearer sound from your speakers. What head unit you running?

Ive got a JVC cheapo job from halfords it seems to do the trick the thing is i dont even think there running from the headunit! ive had pioneer 6x9 before hooked up to a sony head unit in my old car and it was 'brilliant' enough for me to enjoy anyway.

Well I have a Sony head unit and all the base is sent to the sub. Giving me a clearer cleaner sound from the speakers. I'm no expert but I'd say that's your problem. Maybe try running them off a separate amp.

Then I'd say easy option is to get a sub even sub with built in amp taking up little room and still giving a good amount of base

If your head unit allows adjust the rear out put frequencys other than that run them off an amp so you and set the frequency to them,

Just checked my speakers the cable from the 6x9 is running to behind the rear interior panel and into a block which then turns into a big black cable and i cant see where it goes from there. Im pretty sure its connected to another speaker in the car

If one of the speakers is wired out of phase it will give the effect of reduced bass as one speaker will be moving outward and the other in at the same time. Swap +be and -ve round on one speaker to see if that makes a difference

That is standard. As long as the wire from the block is running to the 6x9 and not via another speaker

If your 6x9s are Alpine Type E then don't expect any decent bass response from them anyway. There sold as a basic speaker upgrade, there better then standard but nothing amazing, all speakers are designed to give midrange and highend sound. If you try to blast bass through them they will distort because it's just not what there designed to do!. If its bass you want then set a high pass filter on all your full range speakers and get a subwoofer and set the Amp to low pass, that way every speaker is doing the job it's designed to do and you will get better sound

This will be the prob, dont listen to anyone else you dont need an amp!!!!

Just follow the wires back and make sure + and - are correct way around
