Went out in the FTO lastnight to my Mum's house... came back out and the car wouldn't start.... it wouldn't even turn over, so a new starter motor was needed. Had a bit of a hunt round today to find out how much a new starter motor would be for my FTO and I couldn't believe how much they were.
Have a guess at how much a new one is remembering it is an Import V6 2.0 Manual FTO.
The person to get the closest gets a pat on the back and a sexual favour from Your Lovely Moderator Scott. :D

Blimey... a couple of you aren't far off actually...... I never realised starter motors were expensive as I swear my Mum payed about £40 for her old Rover one and about £50 for her Peugeot one.

It's 162.80 + VAT + P+P + Fitting at the local garage, so in all will be about £240. :o
Think I might look in to finding a reconditioned one or see if any scrappy's have got any V6 FTO's in.

Starter motors cam be checked once removed from the engine using jumpleads. Connect the +ve and -ve respectivly to the battery and see if the motor spools up and extends (also check the battery for a 12V charge).

Hmmm... that's good to know, cheers! I know the battery has got 12V charge as it says so on my Volt Meter in the car.
