Hi guys
Decided to grow a beard, I'm currently sporting a 'tony stark' down both sides with a moustash etc.

My question is, when you trim it, what length as I have bought a trimmer and would like to know what length looks professional.

Or just opinions and how yours is

My anal beard is untrimmed and hanging down by the backs of my knees

I dont clean shave, you know on hair clippers how when you take all the different attachment things off and its left with that bare blade thing, I basically shave with that on my shaver. So very low stubble, doesn't look rough or messy, looks taken care of.

Looks like this:

Yeah that's usually 1mm, and then the attachments take it up, mine goes up to 18mm that's some serious beardage. I call mine a 'douchebag' beard. As basically my sideburns are shaking hands, I think 3-4mm is a good length just unsure what's usual

I believe Alex and I probably have the worst (unkempt) beards, although that loser has cut his back so it might be me in the lead here ;)

When I want to tidy it up, I just trim it to about grade 7. Pretty long still. Needs doing now tbh.

You don't really want to be trimming a beard until you've had it for about a month, no matter how short you're going to have it, so you give all the smaller finer hairs that may not usually get a look in, chance to grow through.

I keep mine between 4 and 5mm, work at an accountants and never had any complaints and I've had mine since December. I reckon you'll struggle when it comes to keeping a cheek and neck line though, unless you have a straight razor.

I'm surprised you can grow a beard like, always thought you were a really skinny low testosterone kinda kid, the kind that look like they're about 10.

Most definitely talking about Sam. Without meaning to cause offense, he doesn't look like he has an ounce of testosterone in him!

Oh dave, that made me chuckle.I've only just gone through puberty so need to celebrate.

I've actually improved became a gym rat instead.

I'm not doing a full beard until I'm used to this one as they itch so much.

Its basically a beard though, no neck and thin on the sides, not like a dumbledore

Where does your stubble actually grow? The layout of my beard is so shit, my tasche is separate to the rest of it and I have none around a lot of my bottom lip, much like David Beckham or Johnny Depp, but my cheeks arent' too bad and my neck is ridiculous... I have a really hairy neck though which is such a pain to shave all the time and keep it looking well sculpted.

The itching only lasts a few days, try not to scratch it and maybe try and use moisturiser on it, it only itches as the skin gets dry and irritable underneath the hair.

Ahh thanks. David beckham has like a 5 o'clock shadow, and I assume you don't mean a pirates of the caribbean for johnny depp lol. But I get what you mean, mine is still quite patchy, that's why I'll be trimming it to fill it out a bit. Under my chin never grows hair, but I'm going for a Robert Downy Jr (tony stark aka iron man) so like kept just a bit thinner.

I'll get a short boxed beard just thinner all round, more stylish

That's more the shape of my beard almost down to a tee, including spots where it doesn't grow, although I keep mine much shorter.

If you're beard is patchy, you'll need to leave it grow for a while so it fills out, then trim. You'll look like a scruff bag at first, but you need to do it.

I had over a week off work recently so didn't shave for like a week and a half. I have a proper baby face also, so i looked like some kind of wierd turkish man child, it was hilarious.

If I see a man begging for some sandwich money, a high chance it'll be you? Lol, I hope to get one in a few years like that.

Its not 'patchy' just thin not like bald spots. I'll keep it trimmed round the edges, going for this:

http://www.thesecretlair.com/main/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/tony-stark.jpg

But keep hair on head shorter, and have side burns running into the mouth area, thinly. And not the bottom lip bit, that'd annoy me when licking a girl out

Don't think you need to worry about that ;)

I keep mine between 4 and 5mm and shave in a defined cheek and neck line, but shape wise, my hair grows in same place as that pic! You'll get this beard, be worried you look like a dick and shave it off, at least 3 times before you grow the balls to actually wear a beard in public, guaranteed.

I'd love a "tony stark" but just don't have the tight-knit growth of hair :( Mine's a bit more "traditional jewish"... :(

I always have at least stubble, the last time I clean shaved was for Movember. I personally rock a full beard with no neck hair, currently at about 1cm but ill probably grow it out to about 1.5 or 2 then get bored and time it back to about 2 mm.

Beards ftw, I had one in high school, that was interesting with all the haters hating haha.

It'll never look like tony's, I might use a marker to fill it out a bit

Just get a beard trimmer which does all the grades, right down to grade 1 then you can choose what you want.

I just grade 1 mine every few days and its fine.

Lol, might be alright for just doing a "grade 1" as you put it, but if you were to keep a nice neat and trimmed beard at a short length, you'd want something that goes in mm, not eights of an inch...

Heh I might be working for AXA soon too mate in motor claims handling - I had interview back in July and waiting to hear a definitive answer... really hoping I get the job though! Might mean looking like less of a scruff bag and more shaving though... :( lol

I had a beard that held hands under my chin coming from my sideburns. I then let it grow on my cheeks and shaved it all at a 1.5mm stubble.

I hated it because it was really itchy and I was contently coming up in rashes. Even if I moisturised and used tresemme it I was still itchy and annoyed me.

Clean shave is what i have from now on.

If I get the job it'll be in Tunbridge Wells @ Century Place buddy. Noticed a pretty tidy 182 Clio in the car park that took my fancy when I was there for the interview back in July too so it'd be good to find out who owns it actually :y:

My beard trimmer does it in 1-18mm, that ben affleck looks like me has spiders crawling over his face.

I usually do clean shaven/ 5 o'clock shadow, but fancied a change. I don't think asians pull off the chin strap very well, they have quite thin faces, and drive corsa's. Stereotyped.
