Ok I have water finding its way into my car from behind the dash on the passengers side or so it appears anyway. Any one got any clues as to what it may be and a quick fix as my car is starting to smell pretty damp! :(

behind the dash? has your car got a sub with the live wire going through a seal on the passengers side? that could well be the issue

In addition to this, is the weather a factor that determines how much water is in your car at any one time, then at least you know that you have an external or internal leak

This is the reason I scrapped my shitheap saxo. The dashboard had puddles at one point (in the dip on the passenger side).

No it's only in the rain mainly heavy rain and it drips in http://img.tapatalk.com/5284d6c1-56a5-82e5.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/5284d6c1-56b3-fdd4.jpg here's a couple picks I've taken. This morning. I've not checked the wiring for the sub and this seems to be going through a hole in the centre of the bulk head with some other wires. But I'm at my wits end with it now. And the sunroof is fine.

That looks like it could be dripping from one of the door seals to me.

Well this was an initial thought but both door seals are the same... It does look like the previous owner has removed a section from the top of the seal on both sides. If and when I fix the problem how easy will it be to get the carpet out so I can clean it up and get rid of the smell...

So I've had another look and I think it may actually be coming in off the heater pipe. Can I access this with out removing the whole dash?

One of the reasons I stripped mine..
Water just goes out of the drain holes. No wet carpet / no messing around looking for a leak, WIN WIN. :P

In pic 1 looks like the bolt going through the carpet is missing & you`ve got a gap between the door seal & the carpet. So the carpet isn`t sitting flush again the seal for a start.

But the water isn't coming in there it's like that because I wanted to check that it wasn't causing the foot well to rust. Lol

This is irrelevant as the water is coming out above where the carpet is. You can't see any water dripping down anywhere?

No it's def behind the dash I took the fuse cover off and it feels like it coming off the hose connected to the back of the fan. Although it does look like they have put a new earth wire in for the stereo but not in the original place. :(

The earth cable would not need to go through the bulkhead but if it does then it's worth checking if the area has any signs of water around it.

Basically where the fuse cover is. I removed that and had a feel around and there was a thin black wire bolted to the frame in guessing that's an earth? Anyway this has been snipped and it looks as if a new earth wire is use but has been connected above this so I'm thinking a new hole drilled but not sealed properly... Is this likely?
