Even on my days off work I'll be asleep for half the afternoon because I'm tired. My eyelid has been twitching for nearly 3 weeks now aswell, happens quite a few times during the day, dunno if thats fatiuge(sp) or stress, or both.

I slept for 3 hours yesterday afternoon and still went to bed at midnight and slept through to 9am and if I go sit on the sofa now I can garauntee in 10 minutes I'll be gone.

How much pure water do you drink daily ? And what is a 'good diet' ?

How much pure water do you drink daily ? And what is a 'good diet' ?

Honestly, probably too much that it is unhealthy for me.

I always have a drink next to me and am sipping away.

I'd estimate probably about 3 - 3.5 litres of pure water a day.

Diet, 3 bowls of shredded wheats in the morning semi skimmed milk

Lunch, sainsburys meal deal - Sandwich (Slightly bad..) fruit and apple juice

Dinner, always something wholesome and not packet meal shite.

(Pasta bakes, chilli ect)

I eat a fair bit too.

I'm always constantly tired, I work 10 hours a day during the week and work sat mornings, spend 1 1/2 hours in the gym 5 times a week, sleep about 5 hours a night and only drink pure water if I'm in the gym, and on top of that have other things to deal with e.g working on the car...... no wonder I'm always fucked lol

3litres aint that much, I drink a gallon a day. You should aim for 7-8 pints. That diet aint great either, not enough complex carbohydrates. Take in more veg aswell.
Also take in more vitamins and minerals. Iron and magnesium are best for energy along with vitamin B.

5 hours is no way near enough sleep. You should aim for 8 minimum. Why do you need to gym 5 times a week anyway ? You are probably overtraining.

You need to slow down, or you'll burn yourself out!

Are you training different muscle groups on your 5x a week gym sessions? You run a massive risk of injury training that often if you're doing the same stuff.

OP. I'd recommend a really good multivitamin like sanotegen gold.

If i stop training at the gym for any length of time i cant sleep.

But thanks for the information, I'll try to go for more vitamins and minerals then!

On a side note.. are those one a day vitamin things any good?

No I specify a different muscle group each day e.g
Day 1 - shoulders and stomach
Day 2 - back
Day 3 - chest
Day 4 - legs
Day 5 - arms
And have a couple of days rest a week

And McGuire I try to get more than 5 hours sleep a night, but have sleep problems which stop me sleeping properly on a regular basis

Yes they are better than nothing but you get what you pay for, try and look for a good multivit that has a high serving of Vitamin B12 iron and magnesium.

No need to do a 5 day split, you shouldn't be training more than 3 days in a row anyway (especially if you're a natty), so 5 days straight is doing more harm than good. Especially with 5 hours sleep, you're over training and not having enough time to recover.

If I was you I would change to a 3 day split, mon-wed-fri. More is not better.

Yeah I agree that 5 days a week is probably a bit too much, I never train 5 days in a row though, most weeks il do a mon, tues, thurs, fri, sat split so I have a bit of rest during the week, but I've been doing 5 day weeks for over two years now and got good results from it, so now I always feel that if I don't spend atleast an hour on a muscle then I'm not getting anywhere

Well if you've been doing it for 2 years then even more reason to change. Ideally you should follow a set routine for anywhere between 8-16 weeks. It's all about shocking the muscles and taking them places they're not comfortable with.

But that's another discussion. Regarding to tiredness you're doing too much with too little rest and sleep. Try switching to a 3 day or even a 4 day split for 6 weeks and see how you are after. It's only 6 weeks of your life so wont hurt.

I'm always bloody tired these days. I have been for a while to be honest. My work is pretty hard to be fair. 9.5 hour shifts with around 5-10 minute break and start at 4 am or earlier with lots of graft and a very hot environment. I average about 6 hours sleep I can't get anymore without being an anti social bastard and going to bed at 7 lol. Gonna try some vitamins I think.

Do most people eat the correct foods though? You might think you have a 'healthy' diet, but how many people get 5 pieces of fruit or veg (preferably veg) a day?

I always feel a lot more energetic when I'm on multivitamins, and my doctor actually recommended them. But perhaps this is because I'm female and it's bloody hard to replenish all the iron you lose regularly... (pun intended)

iVTR - I'm a newbie, so hope you don't mind me commenting. I may not know much about Saxos, but I do (like to think) I know about ill health. TATT (Tired all the time) or CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) are recognised medical conditions. I don't think you're a sufferer though. Here's the link, see what you think - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TATT

You could go to your GP and get the full range of checks on your bloods - this would pick up on pretty much everything that has been referred to and some others that have not.

That said, I wonder if you're being too hard on yourself, I wish I had half your energy. Sounds to me like you might benefit from some down time to appreciate the benefit of all your training etc.

Thanks.

If you're drinking / eating a lot of sugary stuff and always feel tired and sluggish, get checked for diabetes / pernicious anaemia.

i have border line pernicious anaemia. A can of redbull is enough to put me into a coma like sleep for a good 12 hours.

CFS is a load of croc.

Not really? I only really struggle waking up, then the first hour is a serious mind game of staying awake, after that im fine.

Even say i die @ 40, most people sleep 8 hours + a day, so i will actually end up of living more of a life than the average person who lives till 70 odd, lol.

Like has already been said, people get used to what they do.

Some people naturally don't sleep for long periods. Your body adjusts, yes. It might well be doing you harm, you don't know. You don't know when the individual rests during their time awake, to make up for their lack of long sleep.

I work around a lot of people and know that a lot of them are perfectly happy with 4 hours kip a night. They come to work and you can't keep them still. They'll happily do 7, 16hr shifts with only 4 hours kip between them. Then be back to work on Monday for their normal shift without ever needing anymore sleep.

One bloke in particular is an absolute fucking lunatic, he's in his 50's, lives life to the full and won't stop when he's in work. kips 4 hours a night. Happiest and probably the most energetic bloke I've ever met.

I also know people who miss work consistently due to not getting up in the morning, even if they spend the entire day in bed.

I know what you're saying with the lack of sleep, but it doesn't apply to everyone.
