keep on pulling it, long as the two 11mm nuts have been taken off and the lugs rotated, just keep pulling

once you have removed the 11mm nuts, push the bolts back slightly and do a half turn.
they have lugs on the ends to hold the shaft into the bearing.

I only have one of those bolts in my intermediate carrier, i cant get the other in as the hole seems to be inaccessible for the bolt, what am i doing wrong?

so, the 11mm nuts are off, the offset bolts twisted to the sides, so is there nothing else which needs doing apart from pulling?
is the driveshaft and intermediate shaft both connected, or are they 2 separate shafts?

I had to take a hammer to mine when i changed my drivers side driveshaft on the VTS

the intermediate bearing on the driveshaft was stuck solid ::

If the offset bolt heads are pushed out n rotated half a turn then the only thing holding the intermediate bearing is road grime n friction. Easiest way I've found is to put a wide flat bladed blunt screw driver into the gap on the reverse side of the carrier, n tap the bearing as far round as you can with that using a rubber mallet. If you pull on the far shaft you will eventually split the outer shaft from the intermediate one (ask me how I know!).

Yeah I'm sure
But the cylindrical silver bit in the driveshafts means I can't put the bolt through the intermediate bit
It seems like it is at the wrong angle :/
And blocks the bolt :(

leave the shaft in the strut but disconnect the drop link, track rod and wishbone and use that to pull it out, also tap the intermediate bearing out.

its not unkown at all to be stuck we had to take the carrier off in the end and smack the mount with a hammer and it came off once its off the car you can get a good swing to it

i ALWAYS

take the carrier bracket off, its so much easier to get the shaft out and back in

i used to alwyas do this also before i knew how to take the shaft out the carrier and realised everyone else leaves the carrier on but as i said i had to take it off last time, eitehr way can be a nightmare depending on what bolts decide to be more annpying on that day lol

shaft has to come so far out so you can get them bolts in.
use a pot to catch the gearbox oil you will lose, then refill gearbox.

what part do you hit with a hammer??

i dont understand, can you explain please?

I used a set of cold chisels to get my stuck one out.

Hammered the small one in either side of the shaft and the carrier, then a slightly bigger one, then a slightly bigger on. Slowly slid out, then POP! She was free.

And to Dolby. As said, you have to put them bolts in before the shaft is all the way in. It needs to be pulled back out a couple of inches to get the bolt in.

Terrible advice, if the bearing is at all stuck you'll just end up pulling the shaft apart.

I use a 2mm head punch, give the side of bearing a tap then rotate and repeat.

You need to get it in between the metal surround and the shaft - the bearing itself sits on the shaft so when you knock out the whole shaft comes out.

Nice one on getting this done bud!
And it sounds like I'll have the take shaft out a little
Might have to replace the gearbox oil seals too :/
