I've got a new job at a school. I'm looking forward to starting. Just hope I enjoy it. First bit of proper stability.
Anyone work at a school here ? What is it like and do you get the holidays off etc ?
I'm working as an Audio technician but it will involve all sorts of things so it seems to be my cup of tea.

Most people on here probably shouldn't be anywhere near a school, let alone work at one...

Yeah you get summer holidays/ christmas holidays off.
You'll be working 'teacher training' days obviously. And there's a fair bit of prepping obviously for classes - but if you're an audio technician don't reckon you'll be doing that.

Me too! *high five* just proves how flawed the system is if I can work near children/animals/females/other humans (in that order)

I work at a Children's Centre as Centre Technician (IT, AV, repairs, maintenance, DIY, website, driving minibus, and anything else I get asked to do) although I'm currently attending consultation meetings for redundancy. I don't get the school holidays off as we have full time Day-Care here, from 0-5 year olds, and a normal nursery school in term time.
I have loved working there up until the past few months as the new area manager is a bitch and tearing the place apart after 3 consecutive outstanding ofsteds, so I'm glad to be made redundant. I would be hate to have to work for this woman any longer. This way at least I get a bit extra cash at the end.
I'll probably go back to being self-employed after leaving here if something else doesn't come my way.

You could always see how many times 22 can go into 15. And offering extra tuition for orals?
