View Full Version : Do you think you'd pass your driving test now?

In light of a member re-passing their test after some enforced time away from driving it made me wonder how many of you think you'd pass your test again driving as you do now?

I highly doubt I would, don't always drive at 10 - 2 and as for feeding the wheel what a load of shite I didn't even do that driving home from the test centre.

I would.

if you think you wouldn't pass your driving test now, you should have lessons again. driving test is easy, check mirrors, drive smooth, feed steering wheel. job done

27th August 2012, 17:34
Course I would it's a piece of piss, some of the people I've seen pass the test lately can't drive for shit.

Only problem would be reminding myself to use two hands to drive.

exactly. should be a piece of cake if you have already done it

Dom

The amount of bad habbits I have picked up over time make it near enough impossible for me to pass first time, hand on the gear stick, resting my arm on the rest. In theory I can still drive, I would say i'm a 10x better driver than what I was for my test. As for the test, in theory you learn how to drive, the actual roads on your own or without someone who can bail you out are a different story imo.

Edit; This somehow doesn't make sense. But it does to me

Passing your test and actually driving are like comparing Strawberry jelly and plain unflavoured beef gelatine, almost the same but at the same time so totally different.

I meant if you were to drive as you drive in your day to day driving, I doubt you hold at 10 - 2, push-pull the wheel and never touch a curb when parking and the many other things you did whilst doing your test.

Such as driving with broken wheels? I reckon you would be failed for that.

I would cause I generally drive properly. I know many wouldn't cause they cant drive in the first place. Like the prick that turned immediately right at a small roundabout and nearly went up my arse cause i indicated right and went round the island as you should.

As I was exiting he nearly hit me, twats cant drive I swear. They may do that sort of thing in their country but they seem to think they can drive how they want here. Pisses me off. See it every day.

Bad luck, what did you fail on?

Hazard Avoidance, the final part of the test.
I adjusted my position so I didn't have to "swerve" so much through the cones. But in doing so, my foot clipped a cone on the way out.
Otherwise a pass :n:

What's the Mod 1 like?

" Treat this course like you would the public highway"
5 minutes later
" Do a slalom and then a figure of 8 until I say stop "

It's Annoying! It's all pretty basic stuff that's covered in the CBT. But if you mess up Mod 1, you cant do Mod 2. It's just a huge inconvenience more than anything else.
So I've had to reschedule it all till October :wall:
If your going to get a motorcycle licence and your under 24, Do it before January :geek:

I bore you sometimes? I've mentioned how you been stupid to drive on cracked wheels twice and 1 other thing which you did knowing was wrong....
Sorry if that bores you!

So what makes you think I need to wind my neck in? Try seeking less attetion if you don't want anyone to make any comments to you

Any normal person would fuck up their car and blame the innocent garage they bought it from.

I know what you mean but if you are a decent driver you would be able to slightly alter the bad habits for 40mins worth of driving. Ill admit i drove like i do every day i wouldnt pass but would easily if i put some effort into it

I didn't do attention seeking, if you read the thread, all of my posts that is, you would see. I wanted advice on where to go next.

Hey, I proved my point to the wankers that sold me the car.

Yeah Baz. Wind your neck in. Leave Dom alone.

Tom, the car was passed through an MOT with a cracked windscreen, passed through the 114 point check with the same. Developing 2 cracked wheels after being driven home and sat on a driveway? I thought it was punctures, not cracked alloys. I'm sure everyone who knows me knows that car wasn't used till I was 21 due to insurance.

Baz
27th August 2012, 18:29
And there we go...developed cracks after you left....not their fault then. End of the day, you bought a car to draw attention to yourself and to show off. You can't afford to drive it, nevermind maintain it! Hence you have made up reasons its the garages fault!

Did you just fail to see the sarcasm?

How the fuck can two alloys develop cracks at a standstill?!

EDIT; Can't afford to maintain it? Oh, how little do you know. I have a little trick up my sleeve ;) But who the fuck are you to know my personal business and finances?

Fuckers! I'm exempt from the new January rules so I shall be waiting for warmer weather to do it.

I guess you know it's only a 3 day wait to re-do the Mod 1 if you fail? You rescheduled for October for other reasons I'm assuming?

Is there anything new/different compared to the CBT? Apart from the bike being bigger...

Everyone has had sudden realisation to the January changes.
October is the next free slot due to high bookings. :n:

Looks like if I fail either I wont get a retest before Jan 2013. No pressure at all...

Crap! Hate to be in your shoes Bud :fcuk:

Ok so you can maintain it but couldn't afford 2 new tyres? funny that.
Not forgetting you had to wait 2 months to insure it because it was too expensive to insure it right away...
Why do you need a trick up your sleeve to fund something? Sounds like your about to scam someone.

Not saying I do know your finances but just going off what you've said previously....

Anyone who has 660 laying around to replace two tyres straight away, fair play I take my hat off to them.

2 months to insure, well I either paid 4k when I'm 20, or 1k when I'm 21, there was 2months difference.

And scams? No. I have 2 years warranty.

So Baz/Barry, does this answer a few of your questions?

I don't understand it when people buy a car but they can't afford to run it. Do people not do proper research?!

So Baz/Barry, does this answer a few of your questions?

Lol, not quite. 3rd time lucky maybe?

Simon
28th August 2012, 08:12
I would pass the test on driving easily

But it all the other stuff your supposed to do which would be my downfall
-Not looking in the mirrors constantly
-Not using handbrake every time you stop
-Not keeping both hands on the wheel and in the right place.

Probably many others as well :homme:

£660? From what you said previously...it was £240 a tyre, my maths makes that £480.....so your saying it cost £180 to fit 2 new tyres....who the fuck pulled your pants down and put his dick inside you!? :fcuk:

The fucking bastards.

Since putting the car on the road, I've had two tyres slashed. Someone hates me. £240 for a new tyre as well, unless you've got bags of money (something which I haven't got), never buy a BMW.

£3,000 between the difference of age 20 and age 21, not sure I believe that for a second, but if thats what you say, who am I to disagree? (I could always look on an insurance website and get quotes but I don't have the time or be arsed to do that)

If you got 2 years warrenty and its clear cut that they are fucking you over...then I still don't understand why you need "a trick up my sleeve ;)" to get it sorted?

Baz/Barry, nope neither, try again or just take another look on my profile, you'll know then :y:

I reckon I'd suck at the parking, I just whack it in however I feel like it now..

And 3 point turns lol what a joke. Handbrake on to secure the car ohhh yess....

I had to retake after driving for around a year then being banned for a year. Passed second time same as my original test.
I found trying not to engine break hard, as I sort of did it automatically all the time. Apparently they dont care about your hand position too much anymore, I remember asking my instructor cus I was worried about it

griff_106

I'd like to think I could pass my test again - but I've got into some bad habits (one hand on the steering wheel, other on the gearknob, not a hint of wheel shuffling etc.) but reckon I could if given an hour or two with my old driving instructor.

Hopefully I'll never have to find out :)

28th August 2012, 19:20
