Seeing as its my turn to drive to Trax this year, I need to take out some decent coverage.

Anyone work for a company that sells it or knows of any decent offers at present.

Need roadside and recovery.

Suggestions????

I'm with AA. Something like 70quid a year, recovery aslong as you're over 1/4 a mile away from your house, will take you home / to your destination. I believe roadside is also included.

I have it through my bank, Pay £10 a month and get RAC cover and a whole load of other benefits. Works out more economical.

Really? That cover is terrible

Home or nearest garage.. Which ever is nearest.. If you 300 miles from home you don't want to go to local garage

I have a reliable car ;)

I haven't had to use it in the years I have been driving and haven't really checked what it covers etc.

So you pay 120 quid per year to have a current account with loads of advantages you hardly ever use?

AA had a offer on last month £70 and £20 quid in asda vouchers so in reality only costing you £50 quid including relay.

Go on money saving expert they normally have all the offers under the motoring section.

I get phone insurance, travel insurance and an interest free overdraft up to £300. Considering im in my overdraft most months that saves me a considerable amount as they charge £1 a day atm as well as phone insurance costing around £4 a month then yeah I save in the long run.

Doesn't, that's why I cancels mine, I still get interest free overdraft

The breakdown cover is usleless

And phone cover is crap as iPhones etc you have to pay money upfront fr a claim

My dad gave me the remainder of his green flag insurance, its run out now but I still have the papers. If I am ever miles away from home then I can phone up, renew and get them to come out. Same with most companies, you can sign up when you need them, saves you having to pay for months and months of unnecessary break down cover.

I dont even have breakdown cover. I didnt on my prev car either. Lol. I took the saxo up scotland in july and it gave me no issues. I imagine it will be the same when i go to trax. ;)

Il check it over this week and it will go 200 miles down and 200 miles back up no bother. I can has faith! its not a old golf here that tends to breakdown @tomhold

Is this for the Halifax Ultimate reward by any chance?

I have this and I didnt even waste my time opting for the breakdown cover. I inquired about it when I took out my phone insurance. You get home start and the nearest garage service. Waste of time for me, so I said leave it. Phone insurance is ok, if its damaged, lost or stolen I pay a £40 excess on my Sony Experia S. Cheaper than phones4U and the likes which charge £15 a month. Also get the overdraft which I don't need and is only £100 anyway, handy if I ever need it though, travel insurance too. Travel insurance too.

Used to be with RAC, found them to be absolutely shit.

Been with AA for two years, superb service. The guys literally try and do everything possible to help you no matter how small the problem is. I've got pretty much one down from the full works, which is home start, roadside, recovery and £500 parts cover (if it can't be fixed). I might actually get the full whack next year (stay mobile), you get a free car from Enterprise for 3 days whilst yours is being fixed guaranteed.

I work for Adrian flux, we do a pretty decent breakdown. Im on the bike department so not sure how much it is for cars but I know you get homestart, relay to a home/garage/final destination, roadside assistance and a few other benefits. Call up and ask for a standalone policy, I'm sure it works out cheaper than the mainstream companies.

I know the AA make you wait 24 hours between signing up and making your first "claim"

Also a lot of them only let you call them out for free for the first 5 times, but with each year you're with them it generally goes up by a couple.

AA is usually better but a bit more expensive. I'd usually use them if I needed cover.

Right now I'm with Honda Roadside assistance, anything happens to me and some Japanese mechanics come drifting round the nearest bend in an S2000 to sort me out.
