i took a policy out with them 1 month ago, price was lower then anywhere else hands down. PLus i can drive any car third party.
Yesterday i got a letter asking to prove the full 2 years named driving.
I was unable. so they told me my insurance would be bumped up another 800 pounds. £2800 haha comedy you may think.
I called them this morning and they have rang my old insurance with my dad and proved 1 years named driving. They then called me back straight away and told me.
Im still unable to prove the first year but the 1 year last year they now have proof of.
Its bumped the insurance up an extra £180 which is fuck all.
IM happy again, couldnt sleep last night thinking i had to sell the paxo. I tried insurance on quicksilver and that was more then my VTR lol.
Quinn-direct customer service is the tits and with them been irish the birds sounds sex wee.

so your still paying £2180? on a VTR?
how old are you ?
I pay £900 fully comp and im 19 with 1 years NCB. The company is cheapest i have ever found. What did they say about driving other cars? This is 1 topic with quinn that im rather confused about as the policy is abit sketchy in this area!

I just need to get that first year under my belt

There raping you in the ass.......2100 on saxo is ridculous.
I pay 700 quid on my furio with all mods declared...Fully comp aswell..1 years NCB...
In all honesty I wouldnt pay that much insurance for a saxo....

Yes but i cant get anything cheaper.
I did a quote for a 1.4s golf mk4 and that was £2200.
Its because i havnt got any NCB and only driving a year.
Paying 2k doesnt bother me iv paid over half off already.
Clouds_mate
11th August 2006, 09:31
as said above i also did a quote on a quicksilver £2200 and a c2 furio is £1600.
All shit but whilest i have money to burn i may aswell do it while im at home

I found Quinn Direct Ok aswell, they insured my VTR turbo for me.(although it was probably due to the fact my best mate was an underwriter for them!)
although when it came to insuring the impreza they wouldn't do it, as it is an import.

I found that admiral were very good for young drivers and no NCB that's who I am with. WWhat we reccomend may not be good for you just a case of shopping around. I can't wait until the 21 age bracket either.

Exactly they half the rice for tptf, that would be 2400 fully comp.
Dont forgot my car is at a higher value then a old mk1 VTS dude.
So isnt that bad

not with quinn direct you wouldnt have mate.... well actually it changed about march this year so u probably just got in there.
yer true your VTR is new but mine is V 2000 and its only £900, the 1 years NCB only made about £80 diffference to my policy, altough i did do Pass Plus i doubt that made alot of difference!!
Can any1 clarify the policy on mods and driving other cars with quinn directs standard fully comp insurance package?
Clouds_mate
11th August 2006, 09:57
is that £900 fully comp too?
DarylVTR
11th August 2006, 09:58

i am paying £860 fully comp as a named driver on the aa. going to try and join direct line again as was with them for the first year and will be drvin for 2 years tomorrow. so hopefully with direct line i can get 2 years ncb on the policy with me as a named driver, should go down bit hopefully. get all my points tomorrow as well just noticed WOOOHOOO!
DarylVTR
11th August 2006, 10:15
thats got to do with quinn direct how? LOL
Named drivers are always cheaper, as your on some1 elses policy who probably has a full history of no claims, its when you start your own policy that your realise how much it actually costs. Ive been on my own policy ever sinse i passed, my first year was £1600 fully comp on a wee 1.0i saxo Spree

I'm with Quinn Direct and to be honest their customer service is absolute crap. I will not be renewing with them even if they are the cheapest again. I pay about £850 inc fee for paying monthly at 18 on a vtr in my own name which is pretty good, but thats the only good thing about them.
To prove your no claims, most insurers will ring up your previous insurer and sort it out. Not Quinn, you have to send it them within a 2 week period and if it doesn't get there (lost in post despite posting recorded delivery) they threaten to bump up your policy. After lots of threatening phone calls I eventually spoke to a superior and they rang up my previous insurer and confirmed it - why couldn't they do that in the first place?
Every time I seem to ring up I end up speaking to the same person, I'm sure its just one woman in a shed.
Admiral all the way for me.

Your paying same as me Leckie, well i'm paying £45 more actually with 1 years driving and 0 NCB!
Already sent in my 1yrs NCB bonus though, waiting on the reduction. They say 35% reduction thought with 1 years, but that would make it £700 off. I think that may be wrong...

I'm with admiral, into my second 10month bonus accelerator at the moment. First year of driving (at 17) on my VTR was with Swinton paying £1900, no mods and on my own policy. Second year went with Admiral for £1600 fully comp with mods. I'm now 19 and paying £1300 on the same car, few more mods now too.
They're pretty decent and I'm also allowed to drive any other car third party, as stated on the certificate.
Quinn Direct quoted me £1500 so still quite good but Admiral just pipped them ::)
