Neighbourhood speed camera wierdos

So yesterday on my way home from Dorset I was driving through a village and just before it there is a country lane which the speed goes from national to a 30.

I'm going towards the national from the village so it's all gravy no speeding ect. Anyway to my amazement there was a couple of old folk standing on the corner of the road with what looked like a speed gun lol?

I'm guessing the old twats have nothing better to do with their time and these guns can't do shit in the eyes of the law but it enraged me that these old gits have nowt else to do but stand on the side of the road as people slow down from a national to 30 and speed check them lol!

Anyone else seen anything similar?

yup. It's occuring all over the country.
If your a regular speeder, they pass your reg onto the police. Police will give you a quiet word saying there some issue with your speed, calm it down.
3x they'll do this b4 they'll stamp on you. It's just a war on speed. :(

I've had an idea. Invite them into your car next time, drive real fast down country lanes, and scare them. Hopefully they'll have a heart attack...
Or just give them a rare adrenaline kick, and they'll realise a bit of careful speed is fun. (y)

I've seen similar. I was entering a quiet sussex village in my very loud S14a about a year ago and before I know it two middle-aged old farts are standing on the sidewalk in reflective jackets pointing their little toy at me with dissapproving faces.

I slowed down, had a quiet chuckle and dropped a gear. The pops and bangs as I went past had them completely outraged lol, and then I just sped up again once I was away.

They cant do anything, the worst that happens is that if you were speeding, the police could be told, and they would issue a warning through your door.

be traffic speed surveys.. by speeding infront of them your pushing the chances of that area getting a fixed camera or becoming a mobile camera zone

and as said they cant do jack...the guns arent "proper" guns..they cant register/record a video and/or catch a reg..so wouldnt be useable in court

Maybe they've witnessed things while you were somewhere else. I have seen a few stretches of road in some towns where this kind of service is be highly needed. You may not speed, but that doesn't mean others don't.
