hi all i cant believe im about to say this but here goes i have just been informed that my 11 year old son has around 4 weeks to live for those who dont know he had leukeamia aged 2 and beat it then last year we had the devastating news that he had a cancerous brain tumor they operated and removed it and we thought all was well until friday when we were given the news it had returned in 2 places and there is nothing more they can do to help him as you can imagine we are totally devastated and have to try to make the most of our time left with our little boy so heres where i hope you can all help me i promised him a few weeks ago before i found out about this that i would take him to a car gathering as he is a massive fan of sports/modified cars mainly subaru,s evo,s etc but i cannot find one so i thought i would try arrange one just for him so i can keep that promise!
i have arranged with dewsbury district golf club
Sands Lane, Mirfield, West Yorkshire, WF14 8HJ, England

Is located at The Pinnacle in Mirfield, West Yorkshire. A 10 minutes drive from junction 25 on the M62.
to be able to use there car park for the gathering which i would like to hold on saturday the 8th of september starting from 6 pm. everybody and every type of car is welcome the club house is open for drinks etc so please please please attend if
can make it and make my little boys night a special one thank you all in advance and please put your name down on your posts to this thread so i can get an idea of numbers.

Devastating story - so sorry to hear of it. If it were closer I'd be there but I don't even have the car at the moment - I lost it for medical reasons.

Hopefully it'll be a lovely day for the little fella though.

They have asked that only people on scooby forum turn up...

Randyransford91

I think it's a bit too late for that now...

saxova
6th September 2012, 12:28
It's all over facebook car club forums that scooby.net organized the location - and it's on private land so is invite only.

So anyone who wants to be let onto the land has to sign up to scooby.net and put your name down on the list.

Bullshit if you ask me.. and many car clubs are holding their own meets and sending Connor the pictures.

Jungle
6th September 2012, 12:34
The family only want people from scooby forum there, they never asked for it to be all over facebook and the internet, why is that bullshit? It is their son who is dying!

antB
6th September 2012, 13:36
He says "anybody and any type of car" or does he say on another page that he only wants Subaru club their?

saxova
6th September 2012, 13:40
Apparently this was written by his dad : http://www.interlifedesigns.net/connor/

Quote from site ; 'The entire event is completely free to the public, so come on out to show your support and enjoy a great show! That being said, we greatly appreciate any and all donations which are being dedicated to a charity opened up in Connor's name, with all funds being allocated to supporting children's cancer research and cures.'

Inviting everyone as a open charity event - it's scooby.net who decided anyone attending must be registered on the forum / have the name down. And they can have this power because they got permission to be on the private land - so could be anal and do you for trespassing.

That's all I know / believe.. so easy to see why I think its bullshit when 10s of smaller car clubs with 100s of members have organized a convoy down there - for scooby.net to turn around and say that.

So Just turns everyone away.. as we wouldn't want to be branded as 'party bashing'.

Ross
6th September 2012, 14:05
If that's the case, it's ironic then that the webpage for Connor (http://www.interlifedesigns.net/connor/) has an evo as the main banner image, not even a scooby...

antB
6th September 2012, 14:44
Only other thing to do is contact the dad. Sign up to the club and send him a private message and see what he says. No harm in that. But can you imagine how many messages he's getting. So gutted for the bloke

Misterk
6th September 2012, 14:47
I've messaged the dad and EVERYONE is welcome.

Misterk
6th September 2012, 15:14
Just messaged him to confirm.. Last contact was a week ago. They've capped the numbers so nothing gets out of hand, so if your not on the list you won't get it.

Ross
6th September 2012, 15:21
So NOT everyone is welcome then...

Misterk

Exactly, seems numbers far exceeded what anyone expected

A sad event that I fear will turn sour.

We live in the 21st century, so if you think "names on a list" will stop the dregs of our society turning up and kicking off? I highly doubt it.

They won't be able to Marshall it, I also don't believe for 1 second they will have the man power to.

On the final post on that thread on Scooby moaners club, it says there are 561 people on the list, now does that mean 561 cars? I assume that's what it means.

I'm not trying to be disrespectful, I am voicing a major concern and I think the day will be ruined by your average joyriding cunt.

Edit: I also think this thread is now pointless as they have pretty much limited it to those names on the list or Subaru owners.

there's this attendee roster on that site...

it appears that other car clubs are on it? Look on the right side of the page...

Looks like car clubs have given figures of cars going...

http://www.interlifedesigns.net/connor/attendees.htm

EDIT:

It appears no more vehicles to be part of the 'show' but people may still attend, assuming they park near the location

'We've had an overwhelming response to this event, and currently have a roster of over 1000 vehicles attending Connor's Day 2012! Unfortunately, we're simply out of room to host any more vehicles, but everyone is still encouraged to attend and enjoy looking at all the cars that have made it into the show! '

This is the confusing bit! It states there are no more cars etc... It also states everyone is welcome and it also states you need a ticket to get in?! and must be on the Subaru owners list to get in?

Someone needs to clear it up :y:
