View Full Version : How do you manage insurance payment with points?!

As title.

I have 6 points :n:
Cant get insured, cant get a better payed job because i cant get a car.
How do these black box things work and is there any other options to lower the cost of insurance?
Paying monthly for £10,000 insurance is a no go. Bearing in mind i cant decide what car to get (cheap little runner because it has to be)
Cant afford it because all the work i can get is electrical contracting (for which i have to get picked up!)
It cant be this hard for people with points? can it?
the only other option is just wait till they clear in 4 years. By that time i'll be 26 and have no prospects.
I am an electrican, seeking 1 more qualification. Swings and roundabouts :wall:

What are your 6 points for?

If you are 22 then you should be able to get a half decent quote, even with 6 points....unless they are for something other than speeding.

Any NCB?

gutted

if insurance is ridiculous and you just need to get about, have a look at provisional bike licence and cbt... get a geared 125 to get you about.

be interested to seee what quotes you'd get on that. I pay £300 a year..

You need to forgot a car until they points are away.

Look into a cbt for a 125cc bike, worth it and very cheap to run

Black boxes are just trackers, you can also have accident cameras installed now if you go with flux. Also what car are you trying to insure? Find the slowest most undesirable car known to man. Put it in a garage if you can and ring up specialist insurers don't bother with comparison sites.

Just to make you feel better, I pay £400 with 3 points and all mods declared.
